A woman leaving a Bishopville church took this photo August 2, 2015.

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — The fabled Bishopville swamp creature known as Lizard Man appears to have surfaced again Sunday afternoon.

Sarah, a Sumter woman who says she went to church with a friend Sunday morning, stepped out of the sanctuary to see the Lizard Man running along the tree line.

So she did what anyone else would do — took a picture with her phone.

“My hand to God, I am not making this up,” she wrote in an email to the ABC News 4 newsroom. “So excited!”

She says they were just a mile or so from Scape Ore Swamp, the site of a similar spotting of what may also be the Lizard Man in May.

  1. Insanity responds:

Appears to be a rubber suit.

  2. SirWilhelm responds:

I have to agree with Insanity. It appears pretty hoaxy to me, especially the feet, and the dragging tail doesn’t help either, as much as I’d like it to be genuine. To be fair, it should be analyzed by Thinker Thunker, or someone like him.

  3. MadMatt32171 responds:

    Seems legit

  4. deadfoot responds:

Looks like this guy lost his shiny tunic.

You know, you can take these guys down with a black powder based cannon and diamonds for projectiles.

At least that what’s Captain Kirk did…

    Sorry, I couldn’t resist!

  5. cryptokellie responds:

This is an ambitious amateur lizard-man costume.
    Comments from a professional sculptor with 35+ years in the business;
The foam muscles should flow more smoothly into each other and the feet and tail need more attention. No biped would ever be dragging a tail.
The blurry photo doesn’t show if there is a lot of surface skin detailing but there doesn’t seem to be much.
Not “Face Off” quality but good for Halloween night around the neighborhood.
A Thinker Thunker analysis…you’re kidding right?

  6. shill responds:

Note how it bears great resemblance to the RW Benjamin artwork.

    It’s the silly season, right?

  7. Matt Bille responds:

It wouldn’t be bad for Halloween, but just about everything is off for a real creatures. Standout “fake!” items to me include the useless tail and those ridiculous hands (Yeah, I know, Therizinosaurus has ridiculous-looking hands, too, and it was real…)

  8. sasquatch responds:

Better than Face Off stuff, but fake….Might be a promo for a low budget epic crypto film! I hope so…Love those.

  9. Goodfoot responds:

Was that taken with the new iPinhole phone? Anyway, worth hoax costume of the still-new century.

And for the life of me, I can’t get “running” out of that photo.

But Lizard Man does look to have a gym membership somewhere. And a MasterCard, too, maybe.

  10. PhotoExpert responds:

cryptokellie– LOL I was thinking the same thing–someone actually being serious about wanting Stinker Stunker’s opinion? He must be joking! But that would not stop Stinker Stunker talking about how this is a real bipedal lizard and asking people to visit and donate to his site. LOL

Goodfoot–OMG! I am giving you two thumbs up for the best comment of the month! I was actually laughing out loud! That iPinhole Phone floored me. And I rarely laugh. You had me rolling! Thanks buddy! You made my day!

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
