Ohio Cryptozoology Conference 2012

Posted by: Loren Coleman on February 16th, 2012

For years, Don Keating, founder of the Eastern Ohio Bigfoot Investigation Center in Newcomerstown, Ohio, held his “Ohio Bigfoot Expo” in the springs and summers. I haven’t heard from Don since the Cleveland Indians plunged in the MLB standings. So I have no information on whether an Ohio Bigfoot conference is being held this year or not.

However, I did hear from Arthur Vandelay, the Creature Weekend Website Coordinator, who passed this (the info, not the teeshirt!) along:

For those of you wondering whether there will be a conference at Salt Fork State Park this year, the answer is “YES”!

The Conference is scheduled for May 18-20, 2012.

This year, the lodge will be hosting a Cryptozoology Conference at Salt Fork State Park which will feature speaker discussions on Bigfoot, Dogmen and the Honey Island Swamp Monster.

The Weekend of Activities include a Meet and Greet event, Speaker Presentations, Vendor Tables, an evening Bonfire, a guided tour of Bigfoot Sightings at Salt Fork by local Bigfoot Researchers, and an Evidence Collection Workshop.

Of course, Salt Fork Lodge has generous discounts for those of you who want to book accommodations at the lodge and enjoy the whole weekend of events.

For more details go here.

From reading their website, the three speakers they have lined up are Bob Gimlin, Dana Holyfield Evans, and Linda Godfrey.

Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
