On the Trail of Orang Pendek

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on March 14th, 2017

Explorer Adam Davies has traveled some of the most dangerous places in the world in search of the universe’s mythical beasts. One of his favorites: the mysterious Orang Pendek, a bipedal ape living in the jungles on the island of Sumatara. Like a miniature Bigfoot, this humanoid creature is bipedal, ape-like and covered with thick fur.

Update: Orang Pendek Shot and Killed?

Posted by: Adam Davies on September 15th, 2014

The news source itself is suspect. If you look at it, it does not even purport to tell the truth. As Luke Mackin who has lived over there for many years says Kinabalu is in Malayasia. We also cannot find an anthropologist with that name either, nothing in the local newspapers. I don’t mind being wrong but I am pretty sure I am right in this instance.

Peoples of the mountainous area of Kinabalu, Borneo, have reported the killing by shotgun wound of an ape man-like creature that has been terrorizing local villagers these past weeks.

The ape man-like creature that is called by locals Orang Pendek, or short person in Indonesian, has allegedly attacked three villagers and tried to kidnap a three week old baby in the past weeks, reports the Kalimantan Press.

Orang Pendek Observations

Posted by: Adam Davies on February 7th, 2014

Any knowledge we have about Sumatra’s bipedal primate, the Orang-Pendek, has to be assumptive. We are still at the beginning of our understanding of it. Data gathered from the Orang-Pendek project will no doubt take Cliff some time to analyse.

In the meantime, here are ten clear observational points which I hope you enjoy. They are my opinion based on my previous research, and on some of the information on the project that has already been published.

Orang Pendek Project: Footprint

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on January 20th, 2014

A day or two before July 9, 2013, a man named Pak Jintan observed an orang pendek from his farm near Hulu Batang Barau. The creature was walking on two legs along the edge of his farm near the jungle around 3 o’clock in the afternoon. He described it has being approximately one meter tall (39 inches), yet having a large body. This can be interpreted as meaning very massive for its size. The creature’s fur was described as grey and long. After the creature disappeared into the forest, Pak Jintan went to where he saw the creature and found at least one footprint (it is not known how may prints were observed since only one was photographed).

Orang Pendek Project: Footprint Cast

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on December 13th, 2013

A man named Pak Jur was hunting in the forest outside of his farm in the Sumatran village of Sungai Keruh when he ran across a footprint in the soft mud. Following the direction of the trackway revealed no more distinct footprints, but enough ground disturbance was present to determine that the track maker was headed to the river. The witness felt that the prints were very fresh, and that he just missed seeing the creature.
