107.7 the end – Radio Bigfoot

Not everything about hunting Bigfoot is funny… sometimes it is downright scary!

Then Timberlake, the DJ’s sidekick, said, "You look for Bigfoot?" I wasn’t talking on the radio yet… Duhhhh! Of course they would have to screen their calls first. I said, “Yeah, I do”. He said, “wait a sec…” the phone went dead.

For the past few weeks I had been listening to these two on the afternoon show and they had done some pretty weird stuff, mostly with Timberlake being the fall guy. They were pushing the limit making me constantly think ‘my god! What in the world…’ to some of their antics. The one show where Timberlake had to run from a construction site being chased by security guards with him on a cell phone huffing and puffing, sounding pretty scared was hilarious… This was supposed to be an alternative rock station but this was pure comedy I was hearing.

There were a couple of clicks and then I heard the radio through the phone, but out of sync with my truck’s, I turned it off, I had been on hold… "Hi… This is DJ No Name and you’re on the end… whatcha got for me?"

"Ah… hello?”

“Yes hello, your on the end.”

“Well I have an idea for your show… what about updating your radio listeners to the local current Bigfoot sightings… like in the weather reports for people going camping?”

“Did you say Bigfoot sightings?”

“Yes I did…”

From that day forward I became a guest of the show and always the butt of DJ No Name’s… ah… unusual humor. The very first time they had me come down to the radio station is a case in point.

Thinking I was going to be interviewed and talking to callers about Bigfoot I walked into the broadcast booth and sat at a tall desktop that had suspended microphones above it, headphones and a high bar stool like chair. Off air everything seemed quite normal and we discussed the subject and things I had done and seen.

We were on the 16th floor of a Seattle high rise and the booth had a window looking down at the ‘base of the shaft of Capital Hill’, as No Name’s intro described it.

I noticed a light on the wall; it lit up… it was time to go on air. The room is pretty quiet unless a switch is flipped for you to hear, which is only done off air… so we donned the headphones. Now it sounded like the radio station I had been listening to.

I was introduced and we started discussing Bigfoot… everything quite normal… I got the general questions like how big are they, where are they, what do they eat and stuff like that… then he paused and said that he had prepared a list of some questions for me and that he had his daughter help him. He asked if I was game and I said sure, thinking more of the same was on the way. But of course we had to cut to a commercial first.

Things don’t always happen in the sequence planned and before we came back on air, Timberlake came in and said the other guest had arrived and quickly went to go fetch. Well this was a surprise… didn’t know that there was going to be another guest. DJ No Name said, “Don’t worry your going to love this. We were going to try and get another guest that hunts ghosts, but he was busy or all he has been able to find are little ones or something. Plus we didn’t know how you would feel about that so…”

The door opened and in walked Timberlake and what I thought at first was a woman… a very tall woman all dressed up like a French (well ok). Bright red lipstick, tight fitting, slinky dress, feathered boa, blonde hair and glitter on the face. No Name introduced us.

“Bigfoot Hunter Richard Noll I’d like you to meet Ms. Gay Tacoma.”

“He’s sexy!” Tacoma said with a smile.

‘What the heck have I gotten myself into here?’ I thought.
