Bigfoot Commercials

Posted by: Rick Noll on December 10th, 2005

Keep an eye out this Christmas season for new commercials on TV that exploit Bigfoot’s nature.

JCPenney – Wonder where lost socks go after a washing session. JC Penney would have you believe that your current washer and dryer machines might be eating them. They advertise not new devices for cleaning but the variety of socks they have on hand… they’re disposable don’t you know. They have all manner of socks during the holiday season, even the ones with toes sewed in them. The last scene shows Bigfoot walking through a forested scene sporting a right foot, brightly striped toe sock. I can’t figure out if they are trying to say “think of it like a donation” or “the mystery continues… get over it and buy another pair.”

MTV – Tuesday is now the day that MTV unleashes the newest of the new music videos. With the advent of Apple’s new Video iPod and the ability to take with you these videos I guess a new market is being forged. Just saw the commercial showing two fishermen going to a legendary fishing hole only to meet up with a bunch of yellow warning tape across the pathway and a big DANGER sign about venturing into the area. The two cross the line anyway… they’re fisherman after all.

The last scene shows them fishing away at a nice little hole. The camera perspective is a point of view (POV) from the woods. As it pans out we are presented with the back of a hairy hominoid, breathing heavy and swaying slightly back and forth. A small growl and it all is over.

NOTE: You know this Video iPod could turn into another tool for field research. Think about having a database of all the Bigfoot casts and tracks on it to compare with something you just found out in the woods, or video how-too instruction in making your own casts, camera blinds, setting up camera traps, call blasting, etc. I guess it is also supposed to be able to connect with most digital USB enabled cameras as a separate storage facility… hmmm. 30 gig for $299. Well if you get one for Christmas… tell them the Bigfoot Hunter sent you.

Big Foot Moving & Storage, Inc.
– So when are we going to see TV commercials for this company?

Why is Bigfoot being used in more and more commercials? Are there hidden meanings in these? The Mystery of it all? Getting scared? Trying to be funny? Or did the director have some type of encounter himself or herself and they are just making a statement, without really coming out and saying so?

I have named my business Bigfoot Air Duct Cleaning, have bigfootprints walking around my truck and a bigfoot face on the truck. There is so much you can do with bigfoot for marketing. People instantly look up at the truck and get a big smile on their face and it opens up alot of conversation with people that have an interest in the subject. I was totally suprised to see that no one from my area has used bigfoot, here in Walla Walla WA. I’m the only one here but let’s wait and see what happens. I think I sent you a picture of my work truck Rick. Once I’m better off I will be making tv spots using bigfoot, also plan on 8ft tall bigfoot cutouts to place randomly around town along road side. I’m sure it will generate alot of talk, hopefully I will be taken seriously and not become a laughing stock but it only seemed natural to me to use bigfoot being he consumes my life anyway.

I´ll translate what the first guy asked.

“Has the carnival already started at USA? why there´s nothing about it? Why there´s no portuguese version of cryptomundo (causa here in brazil there are many people reading it) hope someone could answer me, then i ask some other things.. tnx”

    tah traduzido…

  5. Rick Noll responds:

OK… maybe you’re referring to Christmas as “carnival”. Well in a way, yes it has started if you include the 12 days before hand.

I truly don’t know when or if Cryptomundo will be translated into other languages… but it sure is nice to hear that there is an interest in your beautiful country. I bet you have some great stories from your jungles. Please feel free to share them here.

    PS… Thanks felipe for translating.
