Acclaimed author Kirk Sigurdson is currently working on publishing a new Bigfoot  book

“I don’t really care for the term conspiracy theory, I prefer something more descriptive like selective history or bernysian-style propaganda” –Kirk Sigurdson

On October 20th HopsSquatch will host the Wunderland of Bigfoot presentation and Kirk Sigurdson will be the lagomorph that takes us there. Kirk Sigurdson was first exposed to the public on the DVD “Letters From The Big Man.” On the DVD was a bonus 42-minute documentary titled Sasquatch and Us: Where We’ve Been, Where We’ve Going. Kirk was one of only seven interviewed by the award winning director.

Ever wonder why sasquatches have yet to be scientifically accounted for, when any other animal in similar circumstances would have been documented long ago? How about the way sasquatch phenomena tends to be so dramatically polarizing among researchers, almost to the point of fomenting a kind of religious extremism? And why have centuries upon centuries of Indian wisdom (and warnings) on the subject been largely ignored?

Kirk Sigurdson, a professor of creative writing at Portland Community College, will examine cultural mechanisms at work in today’s “scientific dictatorship.” This approach should help to train some new light on the sasquatch question.

In addition, Sigurdson will discuss his novel, Kultus, which delves into the trappings of both legends and qualitative field research associated with forest giants. The novel was written in the early 2000’s, and then shelved–due in part to supernatural events beyond the author’s control.

Kultus is scheduled to be published on October 31, 2013. It will be available for purchase at Amazon.com.

  1. DWA responds:

With this kind of stuff flitting around the field, the government really doesn’t have to do anything to keep us from knowing bigfoot. We’re doing just fine ourselves.

  2. Degnostik responds:

Exactly. They count on us being ourselves. And some say, how can it be that the few control the many… Easy. Done since forever.

  3. PoeticsOfBigfoot responds:

I’m assuming that by lagomorph you’re referencing the March Hare in “Alice in Wonderland,” another work of fantasy.

  4. Goodfoot responds:

I believe that should be “Bernaysian”, since it’s a reference to Edward Bernays, “the Father of Public Relations”, except “propaganda and public manipulation” would be more accurate. Bernays would have done PR for Satan for money. It wouldn’t shock me to learn he had.

The nephew of Sigmund Freud, and one of the last century’s greatest villains, IMHO – and he had some powerful competition.

And DWA: just because they don’t have to, doesn’t mean they aren’t. Logically speaking, correct?

  5. springheeledjack responds:

I’ve got to agree. From what I’ve seen in recent times, the biggest hindrance to laying Bigfoot to rest as a real critter is the groups that in-fight, take shots at each other and generally do anything but coordinate and work together to accomplish anything constructive. Who needs conspiracy theories?

  6. Goodfoot responds:

What you say is true, but it’s not what the lecturer-to-be is saying.

  7. AreWeThereYeti responds:

“(Kultus)was written in the early 2000′s, and then shelved–due in part to supernatural events beyond the author’s control.”

Wait! Wha…? Shelved – due… to “supernatural events beyond the author’s control!??”

Can someone explain exactly what this means?

I mean, I’ve heard of “ghost writers” before, but this is ridiculous!

  8. Goodfoot responds:

    It’s, um, private.

  9. eyeofstrm responds:

Apparently Mr. Sigurdson has never heard of the Bili Ape, (a six foot 300 lb. lion killing chimpanzee) which until recently caught on film had been a myth. It took a two year expedition to find and film it. Most Bigfoot expeditions last only a couple of days, maybe a week at the most. I would like to ask him to give me one good rational reason as to why the Govt. would cover up the existence of Bigfoot. I think they have more important things to do.

  10. Goodfoot responds:

Do a search on DARPA. There’s no such thing as “better things to do” with them. They’re a into a mind-blowing array of things. There’s no such thing as “too many things to do” for those guys. They’ll just hire more specialists and researchers. Money is no object, so long as there’s a taxpayer with a loose dime in his pocket.
