From Facebook:

Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Researchers:

Dr. Meldrum has now come out in support of Todd Standing’s still photos and videos.

Quote: “I can’t look at that image and not feel that I’m looking into the eyes of a living creature.”

Don Jeffrey Meldrum:

All this SPECULATING is really rich…

Don Jeffrey Meldrum:

The Alliance is really reaching by drawing that conclusion from the quoted statement. I was referring to one video clip and I was describing a visceral reaction — a feeling experience when looking at it.

Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Researchers:

They are clearly a hoax and Standing deserves whatever criticism he gets. We hope that Meldrum will discuss the scientific methods he used to arrive at his conclusions.

  1. Chris Avila via Facebook responds:

    Oh stop it.

  2. Paul Rouleau via Facebook responds:

Much like the UFO and ghost investigation fields, the egos, infighting and hoaxing muddy the waters in the bigfoot field and further obscure the truth.

  3. John Adams via Facebook responds:

I agree Paul. Add in the competition of landing or keeping a reality TV show and it amplifies things even more.

  4. Goodfoot responds:

It’s happened. It’s really, finally happened: I am seriously at a loss for words. “Increadible”!

  5. johnp3907 responds:

    The dramatic music adds “creadibility.”

  6. dconstrukt responds:

    i dont get it.

so there’s more video of “something”?

    2 well known dr’s coming out supporting this…. hmm….

and whats the agenda here? (do they wanna sell dvd’s?)

  7. Peteyweestro responds:

Don’t crucify me but maybe the DR’s and Les have seen something that makes them believe Todd is legit. I know it is the Bigfoot community way to naysay and put down anyone who has evidence they don’t like and i admit Todd’s had some shaky looking evidence but Dr Meldrum doesn’t go from being the #1 respected academic overnight to some just fell off the turnip truck idiot folks. Give him the same credit and respect you always have.

  8. John Kirk responds:

If the gentlemen are referring to that head shot and the blink that are shown elsewhere, they need to realize that such things can be achieved through the use of CGI. I do not find it extraordinary that Dr. Meldrum has met with and is cooperating with Standing. He has investigated other hoaxers such as Paul Freeman previously as part of his research.

I would not spend an iota of time with Standing or even give his work a cursory examination after the muppet fiasco and other claims, but it is Meldrum’s prerogative to dot all the “i”s and cross the “t”s in his investigating of Standing’s claims. I wouldn’t do it, but Meldrum is free to conduct his research as he pleases and is not answerable to anyone.

I respect the AIBR and know some of their members who are friends, but I think they have jumped the gun on this. I do not see even an implied endorsement of Standing’s work by Meldrum. He has said he is making a visceral comment and that is all.

Bindernagel has seen something in Standing’s videos that have convinced him, but remember Todd “Rockwell” is a video professional with a stable of big clients so he has the tools to effect a lot of things.

If Standing indeed has the goods then he ought to produce them. If not he should go away and we can still choose to ignore him. Nobody has a gun to their head or is being forced to listen to Standing. I for one am untroubled by his claims and just don’t let him affect me.

  9. airforce47 responds:

I tend to agree with John Kirk on this one. But I wonder if Todd Standing showed Jeff footage from his upcoming documentary and had him sign a nondisclosure agreement and keep it quiet.

Because of the way Todd has come across many people have had serious doubts about his research and results. As a result I haven’t paid a great deal of attention to him except cursory looks at what he’s found and reported.

However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t on the level but as John points out the burden of proof rests in his court. Extraordinary claims require solid provable evidence and so far that’s not been forthcoming. So we wait and see and my best,

  10. Goodfoot responds:

Peteyweestro: When known Bigfoot cryptozoologists lend their support to something as hinky as Todd Standing’s “evidence”, we have every right, as cryptozoologists, to question them and their motives.

airforce47: Why would notable experts like Meldrum and Bindernagle sign “non-disclosure” agreements with someone as flaky and self-serving as Todd Standing? To put it delicately.

I resent someone saying I have to support “evidence” that is never forthcoming. I feel no compunction about criticizing whoever is endorsing something as scandalous as Standing’s “evidence”, which never seems to be forthcoming.

If they have something that will change our minds, why would they not provide it?

I know the answer. Do you?

  11. Surveyor responds:

I agree with John & Airforce. I have some friends in the AIBR as well. Please don’t get caught up in the internet Bigfoot Circus or the Bigfoot Community Drama, guys! Just go research and don’t worry about the other kids, other than maybe as a passing interest to see what’s going on in the world. Other than that, let’s live & let live and roll on by. This isn’t a Rick Dyer hoax; it’s not going to shock the world unless it is fruitful. I’m sure we all have enough stuff to do in our own research that could easily keep us busy enough to leave other people to theirs, whether we like the way they are doing it or not.

  12. Surveyor responds:

On the Bigfoot North website I THINK it says there were longer, more detailed clips (or a longer, more detailed clip) that has never been released, but which had been made available for viewing by Dr. Meldrum & Dr. Bindernagel.

  13. Surveyor responds:

Heck, it says it in this video as well, plain as day; they watched at least 3 videos that we have not seen, in addition to going into the woods for days camping & searching for Bigfoot. Gee guys, let’s see what comes of this before throwing our rocks at it. It might prove to be awesome, or it might be one of those, “it’s coming out next fall, we had some delays” deals where it never emerges. Save your criticism of what you have yet to see and experience.

  14. DWA responds:

    Unreal.

Here’s how it works, ladles and jellyspoons:

    1. If you have seen something, and don’t think you are crazy, you might tell someone, you might not.

    2. IF YOU ARE ALLEGING PROOF POSITIVE, you PUT UP. For the most obvious reasons.

No need to wait for such as Standing. He is, alright…at the station, where the train left him.

    Next…?
