“Maybe” on Bigfoot.. NO on revoking Dr. Meldrum’s tenure !!!

  2. clman1 responds:

I greatly admire Dr. Meldrum’s continued research on Bigfoot despite the narrow-mindness and hostility of the so called scientific community. They know everything about evrything and scoff at anything that doesn’t fit their parameters.Haven’t we made any progress since the middle -ages?I think if we have ever learned anything it would be to keep an open mind and not be so smug in the idea that we know all.

  3. longrifle48 responds:

At least Meldrum is making an effort. True, in the past he has displayed some gullibilty (snow walker video), but we have all wanted to believe and have done the same. I think those stuffed shirts should leave the guy alone.and maybe even open their minds and help him!

  4. captiannemo responds:

Some of the freedoms we as Americans enjoy are life, liberty and the freedom to pursue our interests.

It would be a shame to see a small group of narrow minded thinkers stifle the work of someone so dedicated! I for one hope this is the guy that ends up finding Bigfoot!

  5. WVBIG_2006 responds:

I voted Yes on Bigfoot & No on revoking Dr. Meldrum’s tenure. I think the problem is as Robert Morgan said some 30 years ago. People don’t WANT to know about it. At least most don’t want to. In my opinion, Dr. Meldrum is a rare, & much valued, member of the scientific community.

  6. jasonpix6 responds:

[yelling] THE WORLD IS FLAT I TELL YA. WE’RE THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. FLY? MAN IS NEVER GOING TO FLY…! MAN WALK ON THE MOON…? NEVER GONNA HAPPEN…

There will always be a fresh supply of short minded people out there that think they are standing with the majority that might be right about something.

WE WILL HAVE OUR DAY, and when we do, the world will see it’s ROUND!

  7. cabochris responds:

Unfortunately science has become all about money. In one way or another. Many scientists simply fear losing their jobs or credibility, so they do not want to be associated with anything deamed as “Whacko”! The problem with this is that it actually hurts and steifels the progress of science.

These stuffy scientists really seem to fear the unknown. I challenge any scientist to a public debate on what I am saying. I doubt that that would ever happen, but if it did all I would have to ask, is for them to explain why we are here? Or explain the workings of the universe? Or where is the Missing Link? With a few other key questions I would be able to prove how science really does fear the unknown and for personal and self-centered reasons!

What is really eye-opening is how so many scientists will say, i.e. “There is no such thing as Bigfoot” and then someday when Bigfoot actually is proven, these same scientists then declare to the world, “Well, I always knew that Bigfoot was real… what do you think I am, stupid or something? Oh, is it payday yet?”

The heros of science are people like Dr. Meldrum. They stick their necks out on a limb and when a good discovery is made others ride their coat-tails! They did this when all thought the world was the center of the universe or when they thought the world was flat!

Those Idaho University scientists should appologize to Dr. Meldrum. Really, they should be ashamed of themselves. Perhaps their own “tenure value/s” should be investigated too?

  8. Scarfe responds:

I can’t vote yes or no on the Bigfoot question because I only believe in the possibility, but definitely Dr. Meldrum’s tenure should not be revoked. By all accounts, the work he is doing is scientific. He should not be ostracized due to his research interests. If his science holds up, he should have the right to research and teach without his livelihood being placed in jeopardy by those who disagree or do not like his field.

  9. busterggi responds:

I voted a provisional yes on BF and no on revoking tenure but first I had to submit two forms of ID because one of their officials accused me of being a tulpa.

  10. robzilla responds:

Well, my brother sent me the link to the AOL poll. I thought I would tell everyone about it and it’s already here. Kudos to everyone here for keeping up on all new info.

I thank you for this site.

I voted yes for bigfoot, no for revoking tenure.

  11. mystery_man responds:

Not much I can say that hasn’t been said already! Scientists are often unwilling to accept things that don’t fit into their own neat theory of how the world works. Even scientists in the same field bicker and backstab and argue which in my opinion is very counterproductive to the main goal which is finding out how the world works and the betterment of mankind. History has shown time and time again that these scientists that break the mold and don’t just follow the accepted “official” theories are often the ones who make the most groundbreaking discoveries. Dr. Meldrum’s research seems to be sound and I encourage the work he is doing. It takes a brave soul to maintain one’s integrity and dedication under such an onslaught and I commend him on what he is doing. Bravo.

  12. kittenz responds:

If his research is good enough to impress Jane Goodall, it’s good enough for me.

  13. kittenz responds:

Whether or not Dr. Meldrum’s research leads to the positive identification of Bigfoot as a real animal, the research itself is valuable. The fact that he is willing to risk academic ridicule to pursue his theories is an inspiration to anyone who marches to the beat of a different drum. Some of the most groundbreaking discoveries in history have been made by people such as Dr. Meldrum.

  14. r.lee responds:

Voted yes on BF, no on revoking tenure. Others have said it better than I could, but I’m just so damn frustrated with this I’ll rant and say it also: the “scientific” community should know better, one would think. Hope. Something. I’ll go so far as to say they often do know better, but that’s another story (or rant) for another day.

Scientists like Meldrum who take the risks and put themselves out there are appreciated by us out here, and are brave for doing what they do.
