Berlin: Eduard Sanchez’s Found-Footage Horror ‘Exists’ Sells Wide

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on February 9th, 2014

Entertainment One, which already has the Bigfoot chiller for the U.K., snatches rights across Europe, including Germany and France.

Entertainment One has picked up multiple territories for Eduard Sanchez’s found-footage horror film Exists, taking the title in Germany, France, Benelux, Scandinavia and South Africa. The company previously bought U.K. rights for the Bigfoot-themed chiller from world sales agent International Film Trust (IFT) at the American Film Market in November.

The multiterritory deal was negotiated by IFT president Christian de Gallegos with Sejin Croninger and Joel Kennedy for eOne. IFT also sold Exists to Japan (AT Entertainment), the Middle East (Shooting Stars), Taiwan (Well Go) and CIS (Luxor) among many other territories.

“Exists has managed to scare people in the perfect way, and we are delighted at the enthusiastic response from buyers,” said de Gallegos.

Written by Jamie Nash (V/H/S 2), Exists follows five friends who head into the woods of Texas for an epic party weekend. Once there, they are confronted by the vicious reality behind the Bigfoot myth.

Sanchez is credited with helping to invent the genre of found-footage horror films when he co-directed (with Daniel Myrick) The Blair Witch Project in 1999.
Exists was produced by Jane Fleming, Mark Ordesky Andy Jenkins and Robin Cowie. Executive producers are Reed Frerichs, Gregg Hale, George Waud and D. Todd Shepherd.

  1. springheeledjack responds:

I do like the found footage movies, though the “______ (insert number here) friends go on a camping trip for a party” plot has been beat to death…and the corpse has been beaten too.

  2. Dr Kaco responds:

I agree springheeledjack – Also disappointed about there being a score to the ‘found footage’ film….come ON!! Ed, what are you doing>>!!
