BFRO Back in New York

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 30th, 2006

Several northeast news stations picked up the AP story about the BFRO expedition to the Whitehall, NY area. This expedition was from July 27 and is ending today, July 30.

WHITEHALL, N.Y. The 60-odd people who convened in a northern New York R-V park yesterday afternoon weren’t interested in finding a yeti, or the Loch Ness monster even. They were looking strictly for Bigfoot.

Members of the national Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization met in Whitehall yesterday to discuss encounters and tales of the mythical beast.

The group’s founder Matt Moneymaker spoke of a couple in a secret Appalachian location who had supposedly experienced recent repeat encounters with the creature.

The organization met in Whitehall for a second year because it believes the town is one of the hottest spots in the country when it comes to finding Bigfoot. Members say alleged sightings in the area have been multiplying and have been constant for more than 30 years.

The group is currently setting up thousands of dollars worth of special equipment with which they hope to spot evidence of the beast in the area. Since Thursday, members have spend eight hours a day at the local bigfoot hot-spots they’d identified.

You would think that with 60-odd people, they would spend more than eight hours a day at the local Bigfoot hot-spots. You could have 3 eight hour shifts a day.

    could be.

Amen! to the 3 eight hour shifts idea. Bigfoot have been seen at all times of the day, covering the clock would be just as important as covering promising territory. Matt may be able to do something right for a change.

Is Good Morning America featuring the BFRO tomorrow?

All this going on right in my backyard more or less and this is the first I hear of it. What about the “secret Appalachian location”? If they’re referring to the Whitehall area perhaps they meant Adirondack location. Either way I’ve gotta stop reading this site late at night just before I have to go walk the dog.

    You never know.

I never understood the “we spent 8 hours in the woods” mentality. Hunting for Bigfoot is hardly a “9 to 5” job.
Shoot, even when I’m hunting for animals I know I have a better chance of seeing, I get up at 4 AM to be in the woods before sunrise and don’t come out again until I’ve gotten my bag limit or, (more often) the sun has started going down (and then only because of game laws and it being too dark to make out your target).
