Bigfoot Files: Episode 2 Trailer

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 25th, 2013

To air on British TV Channel 4 at 8:00 PM, October 27.

Episode 2

Mark Evans visits America’s Pacific Northwest in search of ‘Sasquatch’. In 1958 a digger driver called Jerry Crew found a series of huge footprints in Willow Creek, Northern California and the Bigfoot legend took off.

Since then the region has had over 1000 Bigfoot encounters. But for decades science has scorned the idea of Bigfoot, and anyone who studies it.

Mark meets some of the Bigfootologists who believe they’ve come face to face with these creatures: Justin Smeja, who claims to have shot two Sasquatch; Vietnam vet Dan Shirley, who claims he can communicate with Bigfoot by ‘wood knocking’; Derek Randles, who’s been a Sasquatch obsessive since a close encounter in 1985; and Native American Marcel Cagey, who says a Sasquatch changed his life.

And Professor Sykes reveals the results of his DNA tests on the hair samples he’s collected. Will the results confirm the Bigfootologists’ stories or will it be bad news?

  1. BryanandShannon Impey via Facebook responds:

    Is that BBC America?

  2. Hapa responds:

I have a feeling that this episode will not yield any major DNA news: while both the Episode 1 and 3 writes ups talk about “Unexpected’ DNA results, this episode’s written preview ends with an uncertain question…I think that episode will come to naught. Sad.

  3. Goodfoot responds:

    Justin who?

  4. Hapa responds:

Justin Smeja, the hunter who claims he shot a Sasquatch (two I think, don’t remember)

  5. DWA responds:

Well, having watched Episode 1 – which featured a truly unexpected DNA find but was otherwise I Knew It And So Didn’t Do My Homework And See, Two DNA Results Prove Me Right – I think I’ll skip this one (except to see what Fringe Yahoos he pulled up as Essence Of Footdom).

  6. DWA responds:

    Whoa wait.

The guy who’s sighting is in this trailer (I didn’t see him in the preview shown after Episode 1) sounds like the kind of guy that …well, I’d really want to know what he saw.

And at least (unlike going all the way to the western US to try to get a Yeti-Two-Step from a bear when he could have just asked Meldrum about his take on the Shipton track) this guy actually made it onto the broadcast.

    So I’ll rephrase:

It’ll be interesting how they find a way to explain away his experience.

  7. Kopite responds:

Bit of a shoddy programme (DNA tests apart). They didn’t even once mention the PGF even in passing when discussing the history of bigfoot and they still tried to perpetuate the nonsense that Ray Wallace’s wooden feet might have been behind the 1958 Jerry Crew Bigfoot cast, even though they neglected to show a picture of Ray Wallace’s wooden feet so that the audience could see for themselves that they don’t match the Crew Bigfoot cast.

    Quite amateurish in a way.

  8. DWA responds:

That there’s a scientist behind this …well, let’s just say that Ep 1 had a distinct debunker-ish flavor to it. I’m always surprised when people who say they’re scientists don’t seem to understand how easy that lack of scientific curiosity is to see.

Then there’s the blatant good-TV-over-truth (going all the way to the western US to get a bear to do a double print rather than intelligently discussing, say, Meldrum’s proposed nexus between Cronin and Shipton tracks).

Ep 1 pretty much removed my desire to see Ep 2. Was there anything good in Ep 2?

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
