Bigfoot on Bing Maps?

Someone checking out a small lake in Minnesota gets a surprise!

I was zooming in on a small lake 8 miles south of Aurora, Minnesota named Hautala Lake when I noticed something on the photo. There looks like something is crossing the road (#41 Palo Rd) in a wooded area just north of the lake. I’ve attached a screen shot picture #1. At first glance I thought it was a man, but about 1/10 mile east of the figure is a car going east on the same road.

The second picture is the car screenshot at the same size. Whatever that thing is it is big. If you compare the car and the figure, the figure appears as tall as the car is long! Even assuming the car is a compact, that means that the figure is over 12ft tall !! Remember these are not my pictures. Anyone can go on Bing Maps and zoom in on this. If you use a smart phone, you can see the figure clearer than on a computer. Search for Aurora MN. Then scroll about 8 miles south of Aurora on Hwy 99 to Palo Rd (#41) Look about .45 miles west on Palo Rd., and you can see it for yourself.

Looked on map on my iphone and yes ‘it’ is visible. Very strange. Either a guy wearing a very big backpack or Sasquatch has revealed itself!!

  2. Luke Clinton Gallagher via Facebook responds:

This brings new meaning to “why is Bigfoot always blurry”. Of course we know why now: we’ve been taking pictures of him from space!

    On the other hand…

the figure is the typical black bipedal out in the road, but it’s too grainy to rule out a person.

Also, someone once told me that the hash marks on a highway are 3 feet long and the distance between them is 12 feet. If that is indeed the case, then judging from that, I don’t think the figure is of extraordinary size, maybe even not big. I have not looked a the second photo and probably won’t get a chance to til this evening, but at first glance, that’s what it looks like to me.

The road and the hash marks look a little out of scale to me making me wonder whether this is legit.

  4. Damon Irons via Facebook responds:

The angle is wrong unless he is lying down. Look at the car, the trees etc. the angle of a shadow is wrong too. Makes you wonder if some tech who compiled the photos put a little Easter egg in there

  5. semillama responds:

I checked it out, and it appears to be a shadow cast on the roadway by a bipedal figure (compare the other shadows in the aerial). Probably very difficult to say that it’s a Sasquatch over a human.

  6. mandors responds:

    I’ve found this from USDOT:

    Guidance:
Broken lines should consist of 3 m (10 ft) line segments and 9 m (30 ft) gaps, or dimensions in a similar ratio of line segments to gaps as appropriate for traffic speeds and need for delineation.

The figure looks to be as tall as a line. MN could have different regulations. Also, the distance and length of the dividing are probably related to the speed limit. I.e., the faster the limit the bigger the lines and gaps between them.

Have no idea what it is, but to me it kind of looks like a state trooper in a coat and boots.

    Paging Dr Rorschach!!

  7. mandors responds:

Also, LOL. I just went to Bing maps, the figure is there and at the bottom of the page is the map legend! The distance between the lines, according to bing. Is over 25 feet.

  8. Lyall M responds:

    Hello,

I doubt it is Bigfoot but you need to check your calculations – even though the picture is at an angle you can run a rough estimate an see 3 feet and 12 feet wouldn’t work as length of the white line is 1/3 the distance between the two stripes. Oddly, hairyarse is standing almost exactly in the middle. The width of the lanes approximates the length of the white stripe – three feet is too tiny if its for a two lane road for the width of a vehicle. The body of hairyarse is about the same length as the white stripe but right now I don’t have the inclination to look up Aurora, MN traffic codes to figure this out. Was someone surveying the road?

  9. springheeledjack responds:

Thanks Mandors! Good call–my info was off by almost a factor of 3…good to know for further reference.

Still, too grainy to give any good info.

  10. William responds:

As blurry as that is it could be anything, bear, bigfoot, large figure wearing big puffy George Castanza coat…Bobo reconstructing evidence for Moneymaker, Renae and Cliff….just saying.

  11. alan borky responds:

The things Bing’ll do t’get our attention.

The problem I have’s is *Bigfoot* the titchy headed *cardboard cutout* on the road or the much larger far more dramatic *figure*further back t’the left which actu’ly does bear a passing resemblance t’Bigfoot leanin’ t’one side as it clambers over boulders?

  12. Goodfoot responds:

Luke Clinton Gallagher: SPACE? That’s taken from a little rise above the road. Satellites don’t take photos of the horizon, and if they did, that would coincidentally be the limit of the satellite’s “horizon”. Seriously!

  13. susanm770 responds:

This looks to be a misleading pavement patch of tar. 🙁 If you do the same map search on Google you can zoom in closer and get a Street View which shows that spot to be just a tar patch.
