Bindernagel on BC Bigfoot Videos

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on August 7th, 2013

It seems that the two Bigfoot Videos from BC have gone viral.

We featured them both here on Cryptomundo previously:

Sasquatch Captured on Video in Mission, BC?

Sasquatch Caught on Video by Chinese Tourists

Two new videos that claim to document recent encounters in B.C. with the legendary Sasquatch are garnering plenty of attention. But more than a few viewers are wondering if the videos are legitimate or part of a larger marketing stunt.

In one video uploaded about two weeks ago, a group of Chinese tourists comes across a shadowy creature in the woods near Mission, B.C., and grab their cameras to get a shot. The camerawork in the video is shaky and zooms in on the dark figure standing close to a lake. The creature doesn’t seem fazed in the least by the tourists.

A second, perhaps more realistic video shows a tall creature walking upright on a distant mountain ridge.

The videos have collectively been viewed more than 1 million times in the past week. Both were posted by “Legend Tracker,” which just so happens to be the name of a new geo-caching app that allows users to search for creatures like Bigfoot or Ogopogo in an “augmented reality adventure.”

The app’s developer, PlayMobility, says they recently issued a call-out for footage of legendary creatures and that’s when they received these two, never-before-seen videos taken in the same area from two separate anonymous sources.

The company’s Miles Marziani says the first video was submitted by one of the Chinese tourists while the second is from a couple hiking a logging road near Mission.

“We actually started putting out requests for sightings, whether they be photographs or videos, and one posted was Chinese tourists and then one that was a remote mountain area of Mission, B.C.,” Marziani told CTV News.

CTV British Columbia showed the videos to John Bindernagel, a wildlife biologist who has spent decades researching Bigfoot, writing two books and talking to those who say they’ve seen the creature.

He says it’s difficult to determine in the videos what’s going on, because there isn’t much scale or perspective in the short clips.

More “I’m not gonna stick my neck out” status quo commentary. These two videos from Legend Tracker are hoaxes no matter who submitted them, plain and simple. The Chinese tourists clip especially so. The person in the Bigfoot suit is “aping” around on its knees in a most ridiculous fashion and the videographer is more interested in the tourists around him/her than the Bigfoot…really. Besides, there is plenty of scale in the Tourist video as the damn “Bigfoot” is right in front of them not more than 25 or 30 feet away. A direct comparison can be made between the tourists and the “Bigfoot ” as they all appear in the same frame…Looks rather small to me.

I thought Bindernagel gave an honest assessment of the two videos. He stated he was a “believer”. So his frame of reference would be different than a sceptic or people who are objective, like me. And even though he leans heavily towards the believer camp, his answer would be the same as mine or even a sceptic. There is just not enough there to say one way or the other. It’s as simple as that.

And it was further stated that he is going to be looking for Bigfoot but not in those areas. I wonder why. LOL Basically, he is stating that even he is leaning that these were not Bigfoots and he is going to search some other place where the probability would be higher of finding a Bigfoot if they do exist.

So when you have a believer such as Bindernagel poo-pooing these videos, you know they are junk. Being more objective, not a sceptic or a believer, I will plainly state that the one video is either a misidentification or hoax and the Chinese tourist video is a definite hoax. The reason they are receiving so much air time and hits, is that they are being utilized as an advertising gimmick for the App company that wants publicity on these videos. It does not matter if the attention is negative or positive, the point is, ANY kind of attention is good attention when it comes to advertising and getting your name out.

Frankly, I am waiting for video that is much more compelling than these two clips. They are not even close! And it was an injustice by the TV station reporting to group the PG footage in with this crap.

    My two cents!

Yeah, and yeah. In Denmark there was the odor of decay…Roger coined that…

From everything I’ve read, I do not believe a Bigfoot would be unaware or unconcerned about a group of tourists–even if they are only sporting phones and cameras.

And yes on the videographer too–CK

When the believers won’t back you, it says a lot. Good “two cents” Photo Expert.
