Hannover House Sets September 13 Release for Thrilling Return to “Boggy Creek”

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – Jun 8, 2011) – Hannover House has set September 13 as the DVD and Blu-Ray video release date for the horror-thriller, “Boggy Creek: The Legend is True” from Studio 3 Entertainment and director Brian T. Jaynes. The 2010 production was inspired by the urban legend of a monstrous “bigfoot” type primate living in and around “Boggy Creek,” which was also the basis for the Charles B. Pierce 1972 docu-drama film, “The Legend of Boggy Creek.” The original film, shot in and around the swamps bordering Arkansas and Texas, has reportedly sold over 1.5 million video copies and generated more than $20 million in net revenues. Hannover House is the entertainment division of Target Development Group, Inc.

The Hannover House advertising and publicity campaigns will target science-fiction, fantasy and horror genre fans through specialty publications, internet outreach and social media. DVDs will be priced at $14.95 suggested retail, and Blu-Ray units will be priced at $19.95 suggested retail. Based on the evergreen interest in cryptozoological monsters such as the “Boggy Creek” creature, Hannover House predicts that the video will be well received by both retailers and video consumers.

SYNOPSIS: When Jennifer’s father dies in a horrific accident, she finds herself drawn to his small cabin in Boggy Creek, Texas. She brings a few friends along for a week’s stay, but their vacation soon turns deadly. They are warned of an evil creature that has lurked near the waters for three decades, a terrifying monster that murders men and abducts women. While camping, Jennifer and her friends encounter the creature, finding themselves on the feeding grounds of the giant beast. What began as a journey of self discovery becomes a desperate fight for survival along Boggy Creek as they soon lean that the legend is true!

The film features an attractive cast of emerging young stars, including Melissa Carnell (“Savage County”), Stefanie Honore (“Final Destination”), Shavon Kirksey (“Coach Carter”) and Texas Battle (“Dragonball Evolution”). The film was produced by Christian Remde and written by Jennifer Minar and director Brian T. Jaynes. Next up on the production slate for Jaynes is the horror-thriller, “Humans vs. Zombies.”

While focusing primarily on theatrical releases in 2011, Hannover House is also committed to a large slate of DVD and Blu-Ray titles, such as “Boggy Creek: The Legend Is True.” Next on the schedule for Hannover House is “Turtle: The Incredible Journey” to hit theatres beginning June 24, under a releasing venture with SeaWorld Pictures.

“Boggy Creek: The Legend Is True” is a sci-fi thriller, 84 minutes running time, and will be release in color and in stereo. The film is not yet rated. DVD UPC is 7-61450-25533-3; Blu-Ray UPC is 7-61450-05533-9. Distributor and Retailer Pre-Order Date is August 10, Street Date is September 13.Target Development Group Inc.

Nice to hear the market in Crypto is ‘evergreen’. LOL.

As for the trailer, the still frame at 42 seconds, it reminds me of that photo that came out a few weeks ago that Cryptomundo was then asked to remove. The bowling ball headed Sasquatch, I ‘think’ it was from Canada but I don’t really remember.

Still the blue ray price is pretty cheap for this and I’m confident it will do fairly well among the bloody awful crowd and teenaged boys in general.

Whether or not this is a quality product might have a little to do with that…

  3. EastTexan responds:

“Thrilling” will remain to be seen. The call heard on the trailer sounds like an elephant from a safari movie. I’ll be interested to watch this and see if it can hold up to 1972’s Boggy Creek. That one flat scared the crap out of me! I was living up in the Texas/Arkansas border area back then and it was mighty eerie driving through some of those bottom lands at night.

  4. RaceBannon responds:

This post inspired me to watch the orginal movie, “The Legend Of Boggy Creek” today. I remember being a kid sitting in the back of my uncle’s car at a Drive-In Theater watching this for the first time. What I like about this low-budget creature feature is the fact it relies more on style and atmosphere than graphic horror to deliver its G-rated chills. This new flick will probably be pretty much ALL graphic horror! Notice that it’s being released about 6 weeks before Halloween.

  5. gridbug responds:

The original Boggy Creek was and still is the proverbial lightning-in-a-bottle success story. Effective mainly for it’s brilliant use of local aesthetic, it’s a classic example of “less is more” and it uses it’s shoestring budget to its advantage (seedy stories of Charles Pierce ripping off the locals notwithstanding). It’s one of those rare flicks that you can pop in 30 years down the line and still get the creeps, though the laughs certainly come in equal amounts through the filter of adulthood.

  6. Dr Kaco responds:

Do they all have to use the same online Halloween costume for these Bigfoot movies???? Geez!! ;p

  7. monsterhunter316 responds:

    Its going to suck.
