Color Screenshot From Tent Sasquatch Video

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on September 27th, 2012

Apparently the videographer, going by the handle ShootingSasquatch, has uploaded a snippet of the video in color to their youtube channel.

The video with the snippet of the video in color, uploaded within the last hour, has the embedded permission disabled by the account holder, so you will have to watch it on youtube here.

Below is the original video as uploaded on September 13, before Facebook Find Bigfoot performed their analysis of it.

Here are two color screenshots where you can see more detail of the filmed subject.

The advertised domain, www.shootingsasquatch.com, was registered on September 12, one day before the video was uploaded to youtube.

Makes me think that it may be some type of viral marketing campaign for another Bigfoot movie…

What do the Cryptomundians think?

I wouldn’t be surprised it was some kind marketing campaign. Everything screams of Photoshop here to me.

    This is making me suspicious.

Then again, since most folks around here keep the P-G film in such a high standard, but ask yourselves: if the P-G had been shot in 2012, how do you think Patterson —who was aiming to make a profit out of it— would have handled it?

Before I start getting some nasty rants, let me point out that I’M NOT comparing the P-G film with this new Galaxy clip. I’m merely proposing this mental experiment as a way to appreciate video-evidence of Bigfoot from another perspective.

The first time I watched Stephen King’s “Rose Red”, I watched it on a 9-inch black-and-white TV. Frankly, that helped A LOT with making the visuals look creepy but not too unreal. Well, at least until the last 20% of the movies, when the puppets that were supposed to be long-dead women looked distinctly like puppets. I later watched it again on a color computer screen, and the illusion was not as easy to maintain.

Somehow this reminds me of that experience.

Forgetting the veracity of either films for the moment..if it costs people time and money to get a “result”..then its not wrong to “try and make money out of it.

This strawman refrain is often used by people that do most of their “research” by judging video clips and stories online.

Yes..of course “red pill” is different from the normal users of this type of attitude and is often doing hard yards in the field… 🙂

And..following on with that..if redpill does catch something profound..no matter what the cost to himself….he/she will give everything away for free.

I think you’re on to it, Craig. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit.

  9. Amadeo Wayne Quilici via Facebook responds:

Why is it that every time someone films one of these things their state of the art camera suddenly tunes into a 1950s super 8?

  10. mandors responds:

These images do look shoppy. Check out what was posted on FB/FB. That footage does not look so shopped. The FB/FB guys do speculate the guy is trying to make money. Supposedly, he has footage of “eating” and “running.” Both of which sound suspicious.

Red Pill, we’re all sick of the Clarence Darrow character assassination tactics to prove a point. No one thinks the P-G film makers were saints, but you have NO scientific evidence the film is faked. NONE.

Now one link gives you the message that the video has been disabled, but the other still leads to their youtube channel, where you can see the video…all 6 seconds of it, mostly obliterated by their copyright information. What makes me think “hmmm” is the 14 second video called “Coming Soon”. In the information below the video is the statement “your (sic) not ready for this.” This video was uploaded 2 weeks ago. Does something smell? (And I don’t think it is a Sasquatch.) Again, hmmmm.

  14. Matthew Pfeifer via Facebook responds:

    Look very closely….it’s Abraham Lincoln!!

  15. Kjak75 responds:

If this is real it is pretty good footage, with the promise of more to come. In my opinion its ether some kind of primate or human in a primate suit.
If i had as good a footage of bigfoot as this person (has) claims i would try to make some money off of it, i am poor and money makes me less poor.
I have read people on the net today saying its all a hoax because some hoaxer owns a similar or the same model of tent. I think some of us are scared to admit footage looks good, in case we get hoaxed. I think we should accept footage on its merits. If it turns out to be a hoax, it is the hoaxer who is the fool, not the persons who can recognise that the footage looks like a primate.
    Just my two cents worth.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, asecretcountry. On the hypothetical case that I were to stumble on a really startling piece of evidence, I honestly don’t know how I would react. I do think that I wouldn’t rush to Fox News or the Discovery channel to cash in on it. Assuming I was a newbie in this field I would probably begin by ‘charting the waters’ and trying to discern who was the most credible and respected researcher.

That would no doubt lead me to someone like Loren Coleman, or Jeff Meldrum. So I guess I would then write an e-mail to one or both of them and ask them for advice.

As a more personal note, I should tell you that if I were the sort of person who puts too much stock in money, then I probably wouldn’t devote so much of my time in the Fortean blogosphere —something that no doubt would make my father real happy 😉

  18. Elise Bischoff via Facebook responds:

Could be viral for EXISTS. Eduardo Sanchez pulled something similar off with BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, which was very successful.

Thank you for the kind advice, mandors. No, I’m afraid I’m not into sudokus or crosswords. My attempt at a gedankenexperiment was because not only they are fun, but they are also great ways to examine a well-known event or circumstance from an entirely different perspective.

The kind of thought experiment I proposed is the type often known as ‘alternative history’, like imagining how modern history had varied if for example, Hitler had never become Prime Minister of Weimar’s Republic, or had Napoleon won in Waterloo. In his radio show Truthout radio, Richard Dolan made the open question to his listeners: what would happen if the modern UFO wave of ’47 hadn’t happened until the year 2012? I thought it was a great idea, so I attempted to do the same here @ Cryptomundo.

Your somewhat irate response —and slightly telling of your personal belief system, I might add— shows you are of the assumption that I disbelieve the authenticity of the P-G film, something I fail to see how could anyone extrapolate from my original comment. While I could answer using the same type of courtesy you’ve shown me, and tell you it’s none of your business what I think of the film in question, I will nevertheless disclose that I try to treat things in the Fortean world like the type of Algebraic functions which can plot a curve, coming awfully close to the given value without ever truly reaching it —what I like to call ‘F-value’, in parody of the ‘c’ value of the speed of light, which can never be reached by Einsteinian laws.

With all that said, personally I give the P-G film an F-value of 90. BUT— and here was the motive of my failed experiment— the way I or anyone judges the film is inexorably shaped by the decades that have passed since it was first presented.

So, I (tried to) ask: What would be like in a world where the P-G film hadn’t surfaced until 2012? How would a modern version of Patterson have handled the release of the film? would he have created a Youtube channel? call Fox News? I’d imagine in such an alternative scenario there wouldn’t even be TV programs like ‘Finding Bigfoot’, and maybe hoaxes wouldn’t be as numerous, since there wouldn’t be an incentive to replicate the success of a film that hasn’t become public yet. So what could be done with such an evidence? And would that make the public more or less suspicious about its authenticity?

Just trying to gather some food for thought. Though it might not be to everyone’s palate.

    Saludos

When this video was first posted by FB/FB I did what I ALWAYS do when a new video comes out on the internet: LOOK UP THE ORIGINAL VIDEO POST ON YOUTUBE, THEN LOOK AT THE — USER’S CHANNEL.

If FB/FB had done their due diligence in this manner they would never have “confirmed” this video. The YouTube channel had many red flags.

First, there were only two videos on the channel when I looked. One video was a week old (the B&W video from inside the tent). The other video was TWO weeks old and was simply advertising their web site shootingsasquatch.com.

At that time (earlier this week) the web site had several videos, all of which were bigfoot spoofs, video games, and related hoax material. It was quite obvious this was a hoax video based on the web site.

Interestingly the web site has been removed and now links to the Youtube channel which has only one video now (they took down the web site promotional video and the inside the tent video) that says the web site “is coming” and announces a press conference will be coming.

Add to all this that some folks have linked Rick Dyer to this entire fiasco and you have enough information to put a fork in it.

  22. sasquatch responds:

The second shot is better-reminds me of Patty in the relationship of the nose-cheekbones-brow…But it’s too blurry and nothing to compare scale with etc… the usual problems.

  23. scottyboy10 responds:

The video is supposed to be a hoax….shootingsasquatch is Rick Dyer, the well known hoaxer, the tent in the film is the same as is shown in other vids and pics by him, sorry everyone but from what iv’e been hearing he’s been at it again. looks like FB/FB and the rest of us have been once again duped!!

  24. Goodfoot responds:

Right, Slappy. When I saw this version, I thought, “this is no way more convincing than those ridiculous Todd Standing pictures!”

  25. Jim OR responds:

Waaaay scary looking man! I’ve had bears outside my tent in the backcountry, snuffling and moving around real close, and that didn’t scare me much, but if I saw this guy out my net~mesh tent window, Whoa! As curious and interested in Bigfoot as I am, that would send a shiver or two or fifty up my spine. You’ve got to get the picture – got to, but just imagine! Crickey!
