This documentary would have been good to watch if the DNA test held up on “Bigfoot Files: episode 2”. That show made Smeja out to be either a liar or delusional. I will be curious as to the lie detector results for Smeja, but we have to remember that Bob Heironimous (spelled right…?), who claimed to be the man in the ape suit in the Patterson/gimlin film, also passed the lie detector test, and both Meldrum and other researchers have proven absolutely that he couldn’t have been the guy in the suit (The suit he wore on a documentary, supposedly a replica of the one used in the film, was terrible, he is not the same size as the creature in the film, he does not weigh up to 700 lbs (which would be needed to make the deep tracks found at the site), the body conformations do not fit (see the comparisons between Hieronomous and Patty in “Sasquatch: legend meets science” by Jeff Meldrum), so passing a lie detector does not equal being truthful or legit.

  2. Nescio responds:

Polygraphs are notoriously unreliable and not admissible in court because they aren’t considered scientifically credible. As long as the subject is convinced of something, they’ll pass the polygraph. If Bob Heironimus or Justin Smeja believe what they’re saying, they’ll pass the test.

  3. William responds:

Hasn’t the so called “steak” from this alleged Bigfoot kill already been discredited as a bear? So how can this possibly be portrayed as a “true’ story? Maybe a true story of poaching a bear and its cubs and lying and fabricating it into a hoax about a bigfoot. That would make an interesting story as to why anyone would feel the need to publicly lie about something and continue on with this crap even when totally discredited? Must be something wrong upstairs with this Smeja character and those still buying into any of this nonsense.

  4. Craig Woolheater responds:

William, the “steak” was not taken from the alleged Bigfoot’s body. It was found at the site 3 weeks later. There really isn’t anything to tie the “steak” to the alleged Bigfoot’s body other than proximity.

  5. dconstrukt responds:

sykes DNA test proved the “steak” was nothing more than a bear.

this DNA test has proved that jabroni is nothing more than a liar.

    proven by science.

This jabroni can say whatever he wants.

    how he killed a bigfoot.

how it was 12 ft tall

and had fireballs shooting out of its rear end

And how he shot it with his laser beam gun he got from ET.

Wait. It doesn’t matter what he says.

    Data doesn’t lie. 🙂

  6. PhotoExpert responds:

dconstrukt–I agree with you totally on this one. He is a liar. And that puts him in the company of Rick Dyer and others.

You know, when your name becomes synonymous with liar, maybe it is time to change your ways and character. But that is the problem with some sociopaths, rather than change their ways, they embrace that negativity. As long as they get attention, even negative attention, they believe they are on top of the world. Or as Charilie Sheen would put it–winning!

  7. bartlojays responds:

No it doesn’t, it proves you don’t know the difference between highly circumstantial and contradictory evidence.

In addition, it proves you’re commenting without bothering to know any facts. Kind of like Sykes did not prove it was bear, Tyler Huggins and myself (with Justin’s support to get truth of circumstantial evidence he thought may be associated) proved it was bear through Trent Univ and Dr. Brandt Cassidy of Oklahoma. I gave Sykes a piece as a triple check of what we already knew and reported a year prior…that’s Ketchum’s results and claims regarding sample 26 were fraudulent.

What’s proven is without substantiating evidence (the polygraph he passed 100% and my thermal footage 250 yds away are not good enough to substantiate the claim and no one has contended that) the Sierra Kills is an anecdotal incident.

The piece (which I have strong evidence was in fact retrieved at the date and location claimed) did not make sense coming from the purported shootings because of time, weathering and state of recognition when found. It was also more consistent with “hide” from dressing then a “steak.” Please educate yourself as hopefully this will help.

  8. Allen Hopkins via Facebook responds:

Wasn’t that already proven to not be true?

  9. Kopite responds:

Just to clarify.. it has only ever been claimed that Bob Heironimus passed a lie detector test. No independent polygraph examiners have ever been able to analyse this alleged pass and the person who performed this test was a known fraudster for a ratings grabbing t.v show. When a legitimate examiner from the credible Northwest Polygraph Examiners Association asked Heironimus to take a proper test……he declined.

  10. dconstrukt responds:

    LOL… dude. GIVE IT UP

sykes DNA proved it was a bear.

    Say whatever you want…

you sent this DNA to an alien planet and ET ran DNA tests….

how harvard, MIT and yale ran your tests…

    circumstantial, anecdotal…

whatever you want to make up to help your sinking ship.

    it doesn’t matter.

    the “sham” is over bro.

    Your boat has sunk.

All you jabronies associated with him are done.

All I need to know is this:

    DATA doesn’t lie.

    People do.

    case closed.

    Game over.

You can’t bullshit a bullshitter. (ever hear that saying?)

  11. cryptokellie responds:

    Sirs,
    All the evidence clearly points to the undeniable conclusion that Mr. Smeja and company are in fact Sassoons. For those not yet acquainted, the definition follows;

    Sassoon
    1. noun; sas~soon
(a combination of sasquatch and the word moron as pronounced by Bugs Bunny)
Any person involved in the false representation of evidence or any other situation regarding Bigfoot including physical, photographic, audio, narrative and other forms of misrepresentations.
    plural; Sassoons

    2. Sassoon-ery. The actions taken by person or persons connected with false representations regarding Bigfoot.

  12. William responds:

@Craig Woolheater. Yes, Craig I was aware that the so called “steak” was found weeks afterwards and thus not directly taken from any alleged bigfoot carcass. (How convenient by the way for a hoaxer). Yet, this “steak” was being portrayed as possible supporting evidence based on circumstances, until it was proven otherwise.

Enough is enough. This Smeja character could pass a thousand lie detectors if he actually believes he shot a bigfoot and babies, perhaps he is simply delusional and not a liar. Only he would know that for certain.

I think the simplest explanation is usually the best and that is he didn’t retain anything original from the kill to prove it because it was indeed an illegal kill of a bear and its cubs. In other words, incriminating evidence. Had it actually been a bigfoot the lure of dollar signs would IMO have precluded walking away with nothing to support such a fantastic event as shooting a bigfoot would entail.

  13. dconstrukt responds:

trust me bro… if you shot and killed a bigfoot… you’d not try and hide it as an illegal kill…

thats just nonsense… thats how the liars try to justify their lies.

    illegal for what?

shooting something that shouldn’t even be there?

shooting an animal that isn’t supposed to exist?

its not a protected species…. heck, its not even a known species.

you’d whip out your iphone or android and start taking video afterwards.

DATA and science proved their sample was a bear.

    NEXT…

  14. eyeofstrm responds:

Let me reiterate what I have written about this lying sack of squatch. He claims he
    1) had a loaded rifle in his vehicle, (first law broken).
    2) pointed said rifle out of his vehicle, (second law broken).
    3) shot rifle from vehicle, (third law broken).
and last but not least, in a nutshell,
    4) chased down the creature he had illegally shot from his vehicle with an illegally loaded rifle he had inside his vehicle, chased down and then left the dead body of the greatest scientific discovery since who knows when, because he was afraid the authorities were hot on his trail and he didn’t want to get in trouble.

    Question Justin Smeja,
    1) Why did you have a loaded rifle in your vehicle if you were afraid of getting caught?
    2) Why didn’t you exit your vehicle and shoot it if you were afraid of getting caught?
So far thats three laws broken.
    3) Why would you shoot at something without being able to identify it first? It could have been another hunter in a ghillie suit messin with you.

  15. Hapa responds:

One of the major red flags in this story is that Justin Smeja did not take any physical remains of the so-called sasquatch he shot and killed at that time (the Sasquatch steak was taken from the area at a later date), due to fears of having game wardens look into the truck and find the remains. This should have been no problem: at the very least, cut off a finger or two off of the beast and put it in your shirt or pants pocket (preferably in a small plastic bag, like a sandwich bag, but either way stick it in your pocket) until you leave the area. Then put it somewhere where it won’t rot and afterwards send it in for analysis.

If, if anybody shoots one and finds themselves in a big legal pickle for whatever reason, cut off a finger or two, or at the most the head hands and, if you can wing it, feet (Gorillas in Africa, when poached, will have their heads and hands removed, I believe by machete). If you’re a hunter, take a big bowie knife, deer knife, or machete with you so that, if you actually do find and take down a sasquatch, you can do the job (for hands head and feet, better take a machete or a huge Bowie or other knife):

And for crying out loud, forget just taking hairs!!!!!!

  16. cryptokellie responds:

Mr. Smeja is turning his 15 minutes of fame into a minor cash-cow. Aside from the ethics of the canard, you really can’t blame him. Look at what our politicians are doing for God’s sake.
    It sure beats working.
