What with the waning output of many of the genre’s most prolific filmmakers, horror has faced something of an identity crisis. While some legends behind the camera have either passed away or struggled to adapt their authorial styles to the changes of the current moment, others have simply opted to break free from the conventions of the macabre completely, trading in their body of work’s horror-specific elements for ambitions of the genre-bending sort. This dramatic shift begs the question: Which bold artistic voices are next to take the reins? Diabolique 19 seeks to answer this very question, with interviews with everyone from modern auteurs like Vincenzo Natali; to seasoned greats working to maintain relevancy like Dario Argento, and many, many more. You’ll soon find there is life after the “Masters of Horror.”
