Finding Bigfoot Marathon Today on Animal Planet

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 3rd, 2011

There is no new episode of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot tonight.

The next episode, “Alaska’s Bigfoot Island”, premieres next Sunday July 10 at 10:00 pm.

However, Animal Planet is running a marathon of Finding Bigfoot episodes starting this evening at 7 pm.

Over the next 24 hours, 16 of 24 hours of Animal Planet programming will be Finding Bigfoot episodes.

All five episodes to date will be shown, so set your DVRs to catch any episode(s) you may have missed so far.

One thing I have noticed regarding the reruns is that the “Swamp Ape” episode from Florida is hardly rerun. Of the 16 showings in the marathon, it only airs once…

I wonder why that is?

Any thoughts Cryptomundians?

oh boy..a marathon of more staged and scripted reality tv!

Think I might be watching Sharktopus instead….

  3. Tim Vogrin via Facebook responds:

Yeah, more bogus made for tv suspense about Sasquatch running around with the hillbillies of Georgia.

  4. Kahil Nettleton responds:

Animal Planet must be lacking in the programming department.

  5. CDC responds:

Wow, 17 hour of nothing in the middle of the night…it’s like being married again

  6. gridbug responds:

Awesome! Good thing I won’t be watching!

  7. lancemoody responds:

The ridiculousness of this is amazing.

Cryptomundo does itself no favors by treating this show with such kid gloves.

These guys find Bigfoot very near every single time they go out but never get close enough for any real evidence. Does that make sense?

Everyone on the show has shown themselves to be inept and clueless when it comes to the scientific method. That one of the team is said to be an educator is appalling. This is not about TV producers cynically creating lies. This is about those same cynical producers finding a team of useful idiots who are so credulous that they don’t mind making fools of themselves week after week.

Together they make some of the silliest TV of all time.

Is there any wonder that cryptozoology is widely considered to be a pseudoscience?

    woopee. 😐

    Lance,

You do understand that this is entertainment, reality TV, you know?

Animal Planet’s goal is to draw as many viewers as possible so to charger more to their advertisers.

It’s not billed as a show about scientific research.

It’s a show made to appeal to the general public.

    Lighten up…

  10. lancemoody responds:

    Hi Craig,

The Finding Bigfoot team members have come here to proclaim a quite different story: that the producers have used editing tricks to make the show more sensational and that they are being made to look like credulous buffoons.

I am an editor and I am sure that there is some truth to this.

But an editor can’t yet make one of them gush that the blur that that appeared on their FLIR is “DEFINITELY A BIGFOOT”.

    This happens EVERY SINGLE SHOW.

These guys are willingly accomplices in the silliness. And that is what I am complaining about. If you want to say hey, I’m the Jerry Springer of Bigfeet, fine. But these guys want to pretend that they are victims.

    They aren’t.

    The viewers are.

    Craig, Thank You!!
