Finding Bigfoot

Animal Planet extends hunt for “Bigfoot”

U.S. cable net Animal Planet is building upon its recent series Finding Bigfoot (pictured) by adding a one-hour special, Finding Bigfoot: “Behind the Search.”

The special, slated to air July 17 at 10 p.m. EST, features members of the Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO) team as they discuss their excursions to find the mythical creature in depth.

Gathering for a town-hall meeting in Oregon, Bigfoot fans get the chance to ask the team probing questions about the series and their adventure.

Finding Bigfoot: “Behind the Search” is produced for Animal Planet by Ping Pong Productions. Keith Hoffman is the exec producer for Animal Planet, while Brad Kuhlman and Casey Brumels are the exec producers for Ping Pong Productions. Marc Etkind is VP of development for Animal Planet.

Yawn. Too many commercials. Orchestrated questions at times.

I think the BFRO does good work and they do the Bigfoot community a good service by having their database. I just hate these paranormal shows. They are a fool’s errand most of the time and, as we have seen, are a puppet shows commandeered by unscrupulous editors.

In light of recent hoaxes and the numerous Biscardi-Charlatans out there, sanitized shows such as Finding Bigfoot will do little to persuade the non-believers.

  2. mrdjr1973 responds:

This group seems to have to little knowledge of the outdoors. Also way too much belief in the evidence that might not be caused by a bigfoot.

  3. squatchwatcher responds:

Well I don’t really care what other people think or say I, for one, do like the show and will continue to watch it. Why? Because I know that shows like this will never get definitive proof of sasquatch. Shows like this are just here for your enjoyment and nothing else. If you want proof go out and search yourself and see how it actually is to get any kind of proof. Now I know that Craig asked for our opinion, but I just get tired of almost EVERYBODY on here complaining about the show. If you don’t like it., then don’t watch! This and the DNA subject seems to have the most negative reviews. No wonder we can’t get good proof of the sasquatch, to much fighting and headbutting going on! Have you ever heard of the saying “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all”? Just enjoy the sasquatchtivity going on.

  4. dawgdoc responds:

I got the feeling that the part where they were talking about Matt chasing the figure in the woods was heavily edited. The show gave the impression that it was still unknown if it was a Bigfoot or human, but I thought Matt has already said that it was definitely human. It looked like Matt was going to continue speaking, but they cut to someone else.

Also, did they leave in the Georgia FLIR footage that was recreated and the knocks that were added in? If so, the production company dropped the ball by not correcting their past mistakes and labeling the evidence as “enhanced.”

I also got the impression that there were more differences of opinions about the various photoes and videoes than were originally shown on the individual episodes.

  5. Justin31p responds:

I think Cliff is starting to take the starring role in this show and that’s a good thing as he is a much more likable and even believable person than Matt.

Once again, heavily staged and edited. I noticed when they all were going after Matt for taking off into the woods after what he told us was clearly a human being. It seems as if he said that at this meeting as well but they edited over that to make you still think it was possibly a bigfoot.

And again, Matt’s extreme insecurities overshadows the show. Its as if he has a perpetual chip on his shoulder and is always needing to trump up how great he and his group is. He is a noticeably contrast to the other three who seem to be laid back and taking this for what its worth…fun and games.

  6. ruffready responds:

I liked the show last night. I’ve watched them all.

Compared with most TV shows I’ll take all the search for hidden animals I can get.

  7. BUKWASBOO responds:

“PROBING QUESTIONS” ?, Light and fluffy really, did anyone expect different ?, really ?,… but id have to agree w/SW, if you dont like it ,…dont watch,…beating up on the show and cast is ,…at this point,… just redundant, everyone knows how certain people feel ,…move on.
i also agree w/ r-ready ill take all the cryptid programs i can get,..it is after all my fav subject.

  8. Kingswood responds:

I’m still not buying that the reason they’ve never found squatch bones is simply because they bury their dead….. cuz you would still find them by accident even if that were the case. I mean, c’mon, squatches are almost always caught on camera/vid alone…(even the tracks we find are always of a single squatch)…so it only makes logical sense that over all these hundreds of years that a squatch has died alone at some point. With that point being a given, then we should have found a set of squatch bones by now, a femur or carpal of some kind even if it was buried.

  9. Mïk responds:

I’m troubled that this was taped and edited after the meeting they had. It looks like season 2 will be as edited as the first one. I’m personally not expecting to see any sasquatches from this and I know that this is solely entertainment. So, we can discuss what little they find, and we can hope for less dubbed-in evidence, but all we’re gonna get is the same ol’-same ol’.

This forum is a lot like the forums on NASCAR. Almost everyone on those forums complain about the way the racers are shown, how the races should be run, and how the last changes to the race format is gonna ruin the sport. The truth is that this show won’t be ‘finding bigfoot’, but it will be increasing the watercooler talk, and that’s good for our community.

  10. midwest mimi responds:

They really need to rename this show “Looking for Bigfoot,” because honestly, does anyone really believe this bunch is going to definitively “find” anything? Sorry, but I get the distinct impression that if a Squatch ever did come out to say “hi, how’s your mama?” the entire crew would be beating feet so fast out of there that there would be a trail of smoke and a Code Brown……

  11. Nny responds:

It doesn’t seem like people are overwhelmingly trashing the show now… so let me.

Just kidding. I didn’t watch it.

But it sounds exactly like what you would expect. Probing questions = soft, rigorously screened questions. Same untrustworthy editing.

Now that season 1 is official dead and buried like all sasquatch remains, I stand now to openly predict season 2.

It will be the exact same show. If anything will change, it will be the camera-packs the cast wears. Matt cited somewhere that if they were going to do season 2 then the night vision cameras that show us his face in glorious detail would need to be removed. If he’s a man of his word, they’ll be gone if he’s still on the show. If they’re there and he’s there…. then he’s obviously not a man of his word. I also think they’ll change around the cast… add and maybe drop some researchers. But the format will by and large stay the same. They will not dedicate more time to ‘searching’ or interviewing people. They have a formula that worked for 6 episodes so it can work for 6 more.

Anyway, here’s a funny jingle my roommate came up with about the show. He firmly believes season 2 should just full on become a sitcom.

Here’s the opening theme, sung in the style of a 50’s sitcom and a send up of the theme from Principle Skinner & Superintendent Chalmers from the Simpsons episode that features the 22 short films/stories.

    “Bobo with his crazy explanations
Poor Ranae’s gonna need her medication.
When they hear Matt’s lame exaggerations
there’ll be trouble in town tonight!”
    Announcer: “Wiiith CLIFF!”

  12. Joxman responds:

Matt Moneymaker needs to grow a set of nads and have more control over what is aired. He cannot continue to say “I said blah blah blah”, and they edited blah blah blah. Grow a set and say “I have final editing control.”

They are defaming the whole project (producers) by bs’ing the populace. If Matt has any integrity he will stand up and make it right, unless his ego, and wallet, is more important then integrity of the research.

He is not an innocent victim. Those words come out of his mouth.

Just grow a set, and stand up for accuracy man.

    🙂

    😛

  13. dfeehan1102 responds:

Anyone notice Moneymaker get a little irritated when the group voted Cliff as having the best Sasquatch call? That’s the competitive lawyer in Moneymaker! I like the dude so I’m just poking fun…

  14. BOOTYMONSTER responds:

i have watched all of the FBF shows and i think its a great example of one apple spoiling the whole bunch . moneymaker is clearly an attention whore , control junkie and shows almost no objectivity . everything is bigfoot/squatch evidence . the other 2 guys are along for the ride . the lady is smart , objective and is the best thing about the show IMO .

im not a fan of their calls , the come to towns let everyone know they are there , go where folks tell them to go and seem surprised when their stupid calls are answered . BTW , none of their calls sound like what i’ve herd online

i really believe the last show where the mayor asked them to come was an elaborate attempt on the towns part to get some tourist money coming in .

however ……. them talking about hearing mumbled chatter/talk/voices really struck a nerve for me . i had a experience as a teen walking home one night on a dark country road that i was very familiar with about 3 am one night . i could clearly hear 2 different voices about 50 – 75 feet into the woodline from the road . i walked about 100 feet back then forward to kinda zero in on the area . then i said in a normal tone of voice “who’s back there , are you ok ?” it stopped and i herd nothing for the few moments i stood there . i don’t recall any smell , but it seemed pretty weird and i figured i should just get on home . no fear or sense of danger , just kinda felt the show was over .

anyhow , the show is not doing legitimate searching for these critters any favors .

  15. lumbarjack03 responds:

a personal opinion, i dont think bigfoot is an animal as some have portrayed him, he needs a decent intelligence to avoid trail cams and not be caught. as for burying his dead i agree he must and if he does he has human like intelligence, perhaps not as advanced. i really think they communicate in some form of language because face it even the most stealthiest of animals eventually runs afoul of a trail cam, look at the snow leapoards in afghanistan

  16. D.R. responds:

I couldn’t get past the first 10 minutes. It’s the visual equivalent of someone dragging their fingernails across a chalkboard.

But that’s how it has been for all of the episodes.

I’m hoping Season 2 will be better, but who am I kidding? This show is going to set serious cryptozoology back for years to come. I’m tired of my friends using this show to poke fun at my beliefs. And what’s even crazier is that I’m now beginning to doubt myself. Thanks to this train wreck of a television show, I don’t want to believe in any cryptid right now. It’s causing me to close my mind and shut things out. I’m sure it’s only temporary, and I’ll snap out of it; it’s terribly sad. How can a t.v. show be the cause of so much embarrassment?

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
