Flying Humanoids Filmed Over Mexican Skies

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 31st, 2007

I’m not sure what to make of this…

Testimony from dozens of persons and police officers depict seeing what appear to be witches flying through the skies of remote Mexican towns. Several people videotaped the strange phenomenon. The creatures appear to infest the skies over an old cemetery.

That’s a good example of a media outlet manipulating a report to make something seem to be more than it is.

The video is interesting, until you study the object. Note how it moves, and more importantly, how it doesn’t. No sudden directional changes, no dramatic bursts of speed (only one slight one at the very end), yet the video seems to be out of sequence. Note how it’s played in chunks, and seems to go from having a white sky behind it to having the rocks of the hill behind it. If you assume the video begins with the object in front of the rocks and closest to the camera, put it back together: it gets progressively smaller.

It’s a bundle of helium balloons. The winds blow it along at a reasonably mild speed, and it slowly rises away from the camera. By playing the video out of sequence, they give the illusion of conscious, controlled flight ‘circling’ the hill.

Adding the accounts of the police pushes it over the top. You have two police, at night, seemingly being checked by paramedics. Was this immediately after their sighting? Was the video taken at the same event? Who knows, and of course not. So you have two eyewitness reports shown with no context, added to a video shown out of sequence.

Must have been a slow news day in Mexico.

  2. Quacker1 responds:

Hehe… You beat me to it… When they started talking about witches, I thought: ‘humanoids flying in the air.’ When I saw the video, my mind went straight to AWOL balloon. It could be something else, but I seriously doubt it is anything out of the ordinary… Oh, and that woman was a moron.

  3. Dragonheart responds:

    wow, i think i just saw E.T…
no, seriously: this might just been a balloon.

  4. giantchaser responds:

I agree on the balloon, I can see the basket.

  5. sschaper responds:

    Death-eaters. Gotta be.

  6. raisinsofwrath responds:

I’ve seen lots of study on this specific video. When a zoom is applied you can see that at one point the object contacts the ridge and legs are seen under it running along the ridge and then folding back up as it comes off the edge.

I’m thinking it’s some kind of stunt such as those performed by Chriss Angel. I’m sure there are magicians in Mexico.

  7. mrsatan responds:

Come on, witches? What kinda ridiculous explanation is that. Next thing you know they will be saying they were flying on a broom with a black cat sitting on the end. These kind of stories make true paranormal activities look bad. It is as plain as day that the object in the video is a cluster of balloons. What’s with the cops too, they seemed to be making stuff up so they can be on TV. “She had claws and a pointy ha.” lol. Then sure turned me into a mouse and cackled the night away.

Can you say where to look in the video to see this? The resolution doesn’t seem good enough to show this level of detail.

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned chupacabras yet.

  9. deejay responds:

    flying bigfoot

  10. kikyo responds:

Here is a similar video – unedited. In Spanish the people are saying that it is a balloon. I’ve looked at a couple of “flying humanoid” videos on YouTube and am pretty sure they are all balloons.

  11. AtomicMrEMonster responds:

This Youtube video is said to be the unaltered version of the “Witch video,” where you can hear someone say (in Spanish) “Hey, it’s a balloon.” Another possible explanation would be something like this toy.

  12. rlis2706 responds:

I’m pretty sure I read that Animal X covered this and they ruled it a hoax. The cop kept changing his story as to where he was and what he saw and they determined this was a remote controlled helicopter.

  13. Mothmanfan responds:

I saw what rain saw. Creeped me out!

  14. DARHOP responds:

    I’m thinking a person and a jet pack…

  15. greenmartian2007 responds:

I viewed this “First Impact” video clip yesterday evening. What a very cutely strange little piece. They were saying that the one policeman was actually attacked by a witch. Although my Spanish isn’t all that good, it seemed that the reporter was attempting to link the “floating” witch with the “attacking” witch…

I looked at this video excerpt inside the news story several times. The object is going at a constant-appearing, moderate speed. I think it might be a somewhat-witch-shaped balloon type thing. It may also be that the wind guiding it was decently constant as it went along. Brilliant effect, I liked it.

But it isn’t a witch. Animate persons on flying contraptions can be, even at semi-long range, be determined to be animate. No such thing happening in this video.

    Balloons of some sort.

  16. Sergio responds:

    No witch.

    No gargoyle.

    No spook.

    No flying monkey.

    No balloons.

It looks like a jetpack to me.

  17. crypto-hunter465 responds:

HUMANOID?! The only thing I see is a vague shape that the media, deciding it had nothing exciting to run, blew up into a humanoid. To me, a vague shape, moving at the exact same speed like a remote controlled plane or something.

Don’t even need to zoom. I can see its leg’s lift as it leaves the cliff.

    Person and a jet pack!

  19. AtomicMrEMonster responds:

If you look around on Youtube, you can see the original version of the “witch” footage where you can hear someone say “It’s a balloon” in Spanish. You can also find videos of a neat R/C plane that’s designed to look like a witch…

  20. Mnynames responds:

I’m surprised this footage hasn’t had more air-time, especially as it’s several years old by now. I’ve read accounts of the policeman’s encounter, along with several others, and am left somewhat wanting…whatever the younger cop saw freaked him out so much that paramedics were called, that much is pretty well-confirmed. There apparently have been lots of encounters with weird, Mothman/Spring-Heeled Jack-like entities down South and Central American way, and many are attributed not to aliens or monsters, but Bruhah/Brujo (Witches or Warlocks).

As for the footage, well, I have to admit it creeps me out, and I wish it were clearer and more detailed. Actually, this version seems to be about the clearest I’ve seen, but that may just be due to resolution. The time of day didn’t lend itself well to filming either (After sunset, if I recall correctly), and I remain unconvinced that the leg movements are not simply the dark of the Brujah merging with the features at the top of the mountain. Then again, it doesn’t seem to have the random movements of other flying humanoid footage I’ve seen that simply scream “balloon tossed about in the wind.” Oddly enough, it was on a thread here some time ago that someone posted a few links to some other footage (Might even have included this one, as I said, it’s not exactly new).

It should also be pointed out that there are only about 5 known jet packs in the world, and last I saw, only one was still operational (And yes, it’s the one from the Bond films). It’s owned by a film company in the US, I believe, and up until recently I’m pretty sure it could still be rented out to perform at events. I might also add that cloaking it in a cape would likely prove pretty disastrous, at least to the wearer.

Could be a flying humanoid. Could be a balloon, or some sort of ROV. This one is still labeled an “I dunno” in my book, but that’s about as strong as I’ll give it until I see more, or a better analysis. Perhaps M. K. Davis can find a stick in his hand…

  21. QuisAbyssus responds:

The flying humanoid topic has always fascinated me. I decided to google “Flying humanoids” recently and well, its been linked to the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, who has feathers and can fly(?) According to the police officer who was attacked, the officer claimed that the “witch” had black feathers, and large claws. Even the Aztecs have reported seeing flying humanoids.
