Posted by: Craig Woolheater on August 5th, 2013

I’m not sure why this is news. We all know that Rick Dyer is one of the biggest liars and fabricators in real life let alone the Bigfoot world. Why do we allow this pseudo-drama to take up a website that is one of the few that has any credibility left. I know that hoaxes have been a fabric of Bigfoot investigation culture for many decades, but why does everyone jump on every story as if “this is it, we have to report it just in case” when they should just know better. If para-journalists learned how to fact find before jumping on every single story (especially from Dyer who at least admitted he’s a liar and hasn’t stopped) none of these idiots would get another five minutes of fame and the hoaxing and lying would slowly subside. Maybe I’m missing something and people actually like this type of fake drama surrounding cryptozoology, I for one grow tired of it and would like to see a bit more science and reality reported.

  2. dconstrukt responds:

why are you guys even posting garbage from this jabroni?

    he’s a KNOWN HOAXER.

    “Bigfoot body” anyone?

seriously lowers the respect we have for CM.

you guys perpetuate the hoaxing and garbage by posting stuff from cronies like this.

someone should shut that fool up.

  3. vamelungeon responds:

If Cryptomundo is going to keep giving attention to Rick Dyer I guess I’ll have to stop giving attention to Cryptomundo. Please stop.

  4. cryptokellie responds:

Why isn’t this front page news everywhere. He makes an announcement from his car…
    This is disgusting nonsense.
Halting speech…trying to think…making this up as he goes along.
If this had really occurred, he would be front page news everywhere with not only a Bigfoot carcass but a live juvenile Bigfoot to prove his claim.
They took x-rays in Las Vegas and the slain Bigfoot was…hermaphroditic! He/she was pregnant!Confirmed by scientists no less! He still has the juvenile! They have Platinum Members? REALLY? People pays for this?
I don’t have a word for this kind of slimy, unbelievable prevarication. Honestly, is this what are coming to in the crypto-world? This is like listening to Art Bell on steroids. What is the pay-off for these people with this kind of crypto-chain blog baloney? Who has the time to do all this?
Very seriously, I think that the only way to halt this behavior is to completely ignore all their blogs, videos, press releases. Anything that cannot be immediately and truthfully proven should be totally ostracized. I am in my sixties, I’ve been following the Bigfoot saga for almost 55 years and the level that this chicanery has fallen to is appalling. We have entered the WWE period of Bigfoot news where everything will become entertainment with no pretense of reality. Worse yet, the general loonies in the public will get their 15 minutes by participating in the foolishness.
Just listen to these callers…Good Lord. I though Slim Pickens was dead.
It would seem that I made a mistake 40 years ago when I chose between becoming a psychologist or a sculptor…I chose the latter. Big mistake. Had I any way of knowing how many ill people would be in need of mental health care or at least guidance today – I would have chose the former. Or are we just to shake our heads and laugh along with this stuff?
I can see it now… “Bigfoot-the Body Found was Captured by Mermaids and Eaten by Megalodon”. Film at 11:00.

  5. Bipedal_Bill responds:

It’s seems like Cryptomundo should consider stories that meet these qualifications.

    1) Story recounting an experience
    2) historic stories
    3) evidence that can some how be judged by the readers (ie: photo, video, audio, etc.)
    4) general news

These type of ongoing stories that begin with either news or a story and quickly morph into an ongoing promise of evidence when the author is “good and ready” to offer it to the world, should be filtered off the site until the time comes that the evidence is offered to the world. All the updates and silly leaks of information are useless. Let’s eliminate the ridiculous attention that these people crave.

That’s my opinion. Thanks for letting me share it.

  6. Iceman responds:

If Dyer ever needs to fall back on an acting career, then he’s in trouble; that was just painful to watch!

  7. NMRNG responds:

I think this site could use a separate page/forum/board for posts like this one (and, sadly, too many of the other ones that have popped up over the past several months), entitled “Hoaxes, Frauds, and Attention-Seeking Morons.” Leave front page space to apparently genuine stories, not crap like Dyer’s nonsense.

Incidentally, if Christopher Noel is reading comments to this story, I’m looking for some good poultry sauce recipes for you. Chris, you’re going to need something to accompany all of that crow you’ll be eating once August 15 roles around and Dyer’s got no body. Ten days and then maybe you’ll open your eyes and decide for yourself that “once a fraud, always a fraud” applies to Dyer (a well-known hoaxer and fraud).

  8. Cryptidcrazy responds:

Why, why, why are we giving Rick Dyer any publicity what so ever? The guy is a proven liar. He pulled off one of the biggest hoaxes ever, so what makes anyone believe this guy has changed? Personally, I don’t believe a word he says. I can’t believe people are actually paying him to hear his tall tales.

  9. Craig Woolheater responds:

    NMRNG,

Cryptomundo is a blog, not a forum or message board.

    As in:

The word blog is a portmanteau of the words web log. But that alone doesn’t really define blog at all. Simply put, a blog is a website with content that is written frequently and added in a chronological order. Many people compare it with a journal, except it is written online and for everyone to see. Some of the other terms for blog are online journal, web diary, and web log, but the most common term is indeed blog. The term blog can also be used as a verb to describe the action of updating a blog.Brick Marketing

As such, there isn’t a separate page/forum/board for posts that you don’t like.

I try to cover all aspects of cryptozoology. I try to let the individual readers make up their own minds as to the validity of what is covered in each post. Not all posts are going to appeal to all readers all of the time.

  10. edsbigfoot responds:

Hahaaa! That’s awesome! Male and female organs, I guess this fella just couldn’t help but look…I mean, c’mon, wouldn’t you?…and hey, who needs a mate when you can do it yourself? No wonder they seem so happy spending all that time alone. It explains why the Sasquatch divorce rate is so low. It also confirms that this man is either really onto something, or he’s really…well…insert your own word, just don’t type it!:) Oh well, maybe one day he’ll let us see the thing, it must smell really good by now:)

  11. dconstrukt responds:

do you need blog posts THAT badly?

    seriously.

makes you guys look like a bunch of clowns for posting this. (sorry, I gotta call it like I see it).

blogs don’t need a ton of content to be GOOD.

As someone who has a blog, and gets LOT of visitors, it’s the QUALITY of the content that makes the blog good, not the # of posts.

Posting junk like this, giving this jabroni publicity is a joke. You’re perpetuating the hoaxing by posting this.

  12. Goodfoot responds:

dconstrukt: The only way a hoax can be perpetuated is by people believing it. I don’t see any danger of that, do you? Get yer panties unbunched and set a spell.

To review: unbunch, then set. That’s the preferred method.

  13. dconstrukt responds:

Goodfoot – thats gotta be the dumbest jabroni statement I’ve heard all week.

First, Who mentioned anything about A HOAX?

We are talking about a KNOWN HOAXER and LIAR.

On planet earth, speaking english, they mean 2 different things…

Second, here’s the more accurate statement:

When you as a blogger, or news “agent” report and post stories of KNOWN hoaxers… you are essentially aligning your brand, your blog with these people.

And you are perpetuating the hoaxing by giving these people a platform to be heard.

So if CM wants to be known as a blog where they allow known hoaxers to be heard, then by all means….

just gives them more reasons to continue hoaxing, lying and deceiving the public.

just know that the readers, ones who have interest in this topic, will consider the site more of a joke.

If this site is about news, then how does one consider a post by a known liar and hoaxer, news?

Is that the news you want to report?

  14. size 13 responds:

All this guy wants(Dyer) is free publicity and CryptoMundo is giving it to him. I haven’t been coming to CryptoMundo for a while for all of the post subjects like say “Mermaids”. I can see that it is hard to take BigFooting Seriously after reading CryptoMundo with posts dealing with Dyer.WHY give him ANY “Air Time”. The best response to his next claim would best be NO AIR TIME.He doesn’t have anything ,He never had anything,He never will have anything.

  15. NMRNG responds:

A few years back someone I knew invited me to join a writers’ website called Associated Content (“AC,” since bought out by Yahoo and it’s now called Yahoo Voices). People could write about anything they wanted, there were ads on every page, and if an “article” (could be a book, movie, product or business review, social commentary, an instructional piece, anything basically non-fiction in nature) got enough hits, the writer could start to earn some pennies on his/her writing, with more prolific and popular writers earning their scheckels at a higher rate. As soon as any newby joined, people would hit him/her up with links to their tutorial articles on how AC worked, so they could get more hits on their written pieces. People had very elaborate intructions on how to get more hits from Google and how to cross-reference their articles and “successful” writers seemed to develop hugely inflated egos (they would censor all comments to their articles and delete all critical ones, even if constructive). After a few weeks on the site, I posted an inquiry on the message boards whether there was actually any worthwhile content on the site or if “associated” was just a synonym for overly-obvious garbage. People just kept spewing worthless crap out at the rate of as many 200-word pieces as they could churn, literally (no exaggeration at all) on topics as idiotic and useless as “How to Boil Water” and “How to Sit In a Chair.”

I learned that when doing a Google search for something, to skip all hits from Associated Content, no matter how seemingly relevant, because there was at least a 90% chance that it would be a very brief piece that contained no useful substance (but multiple links to the writer’s other articles). I talked to a number of other people and they all had the same experience: Associated Content was nearly all filler-laden junk and I certainly wasn’t the only person who started avoiding the AC articles when searching for information on any topic. I gave up on the website after not that many weeks.

Craig, there’s a lesson here from that story (and what many, many other people are trying to tell you): publish enough worthless crap and people will stop coming to visit your website. It’s very much akin to the old fable The Boy Who Cried Wolf. The people who regularly visit your website would be a lot happier with only, say, 7 quality articles a week with no silly nonsense, than the current status quo of maybe 4-5 worthwhile articles and 15 ones containing only silly/sensationalistic/implausible filler.

I suggested this before and maybe your site’s format is too limited and restricted in what it can do, but if you somehow had an affiliated site for news of the crypto frauds and hoaxers (I’m no website guru, but maybe a link to an alternative site on the top of the home page, possibly even with a list of new posts), and then stuck all this Rick Dyer, Bigfoot and UFO connection, etc… nonsense there, you’d have everyone happier. People who don’t want to be bothered by frauds and idiots would stick to the main Cryptomundo site, those who find the crackpots amusing and want to go call them jabronies could visit both the hoax site (which would be very clearly marked as a place to mock hoaxers, frauds, and fools) and this one. And someone randomly searching for a cryptid topic wouldn’t suddenly find himself/herself here, read some nonsense, and have a lower opinion of both this site and cryptozoology. I’m guessing you get some advertising bucks from people linking to here, so you’d probably get extra dollars from the second website.

  16. dconstrukt responds:

NMRNG – thank you… the voice of reason. you hit the nail on the head.

  17. PhotoExpert responds:

Wow! Rick Dyer the Liar again! Just when you think the disgraced former police officer, liar and hoaxer had faded away into obscurity, he rears his ugly head. So based on past history, this is all bullcrap coming from Dyer. Always was and still is!

One would think that when that guy Jay debunked all of Dyer’s statements about shooting a Bigfoot, going to that location and interviewing people, that would make it clear that no Bigfoots were harmed in the shooting of that documentary type video. And when the producer himself said there were no Bigfoots shot, that would be the final nail in the coffin for Ricky boy. But no, he rises again making absurd claims.

I do have two interesting observations though. First, I see a lot of people at odds with Craig for posting this. And they do make very valid points. I agreed with some of those points. But Craig made an excellent point or two as well. And his points were just as valid.

In all honesty, I would not have known about these recent claims from Dyer if they were not posted here at Cryptomundo. I did not see them covered on radio or on TV. There was no prominent internet coverage either. I learned about it here. So it was news to me. And in that vein, Craig is correct. He posted something here for evaluation that might be considered newsworthy. It is not newsworthy in the sense that most of us think–relating to the possible discovery of a cryptid creature. But it is newsworthy in the sense that I and others would not have known about Dyer’s incredulous statements unless they were posted here.

I agreed with most of the people posting as a knee jerk reaction. But when I thought about it and looked at the broader picture, I understand and definitely agree with Craig posting this. I do not like Dyer and his ilk at all. But that is my emotional side talking. He is a detriment to the cryptozoological community. That is not an opinion, that is fact! Facts are not libelous. Dyer is a liar! But after taking a breath and rationally thinking about it, Craig must post this type of stuff, regardless of the content. For you see, the opinions are ours to make. And it is also up to us, to separate the wheat from the chaffe. That last sentence almost makes us kind of godly with a whole lot of power.

So use that power and feel free to tear Dyer a new one. Afterall, he deserves it because he earned it!

The second observation was that I notice there is a little crew around Dyer. It is a podcast type of radio show–very amaturish. They talk about Dyer as if he is some kind of hero. They have a rudimentary understanding about biology. But a little knowledge is dangerous. They are comparing the Dyer statement about a hermaphroditic Bigfoot to a the birth of a captive komodo dragon. They do not understand the comparative anatomy of reptiles versus mammals. But they try to connect the dots unscientifically, not having the slightest idea that they actually sound like a bunch of morons instead of sounding intelligent. They did not even know the name of the process when live birth occurs, parthenogenesis. They also talk about the haters of Dyer and how anyone could be like that to such a great man. They kiss his butt and look up to him like little school girls that idolize Justin Bieber. All really sad! One guy talks about a trip where he hopes he can be in the tent next to Dyer’s just to be closer to him. Ewwww! The are sicophants for Dyer! They idolize him like you or I might idolize a sports celebrity. But they are more like children who do not comprehend what Dyer is and drool and hang on his every word. They proclaim that when the scientists confirm all this, it is us who will be the laughing stock. They will call all of us out. OK, I’m here calling Rick Dyer the Liar out for what this known hoaxer and disgraced former police officer is. I will go on record that no Bigfoot was shot by Dyer. No baby BIgfoot was captured by Dyer. I will go on record that Rick Dyer is a hoaxer and a liar. By the way, I called that one out in advance when he did the last hoax while people began to debate it. Where were these Rick Dyer sicophants then? I was right then and I am right now. Rick was lying then and he is lying now. I will go on to state that there is no Bigfoot body and there are no scientists confirming a two stomached, pregnant, hermaphroditic undiscovered ape. And for you Dyer lovers, please hold me to this when no Bigfoot body is produced.

On the other side of the coin, when that happens, I will hold your feet to the fire on your stupidity and man love of Rick Dyer. It is a double edge sword. We will all laugh at you Rick Dyer sicophants! We will laugh just like the last time. But we were not laughing with you, we were laughing at you. I am laughing at you idiots who think they are scientific and intelligent and do not even know the word, parthenogenesis. Some scientists you are! LOL But that little bit of knowledge you have is just that. It is not so bad that you have low IQs or are not so educated. I accept that. What irks most people is that you also lack common sense. If someone lied before, they are probably going to do it again and on a bigger scale. Sound familiar? Rick Dyer, look in the mirror! His man love followers, just do some basic reading and thinking. A fourth grade reading level should be enough to clue you in on your incorrectness. So just as you proclaim some things, I am proclaiming some things too!

Hmmm, I wonder who will be correct–me or a known hoaxer, proven liar, disgraced former police officer who is now making more claims, some which were already disproven! And his bunch of drooling manlove fans. LOL

I am laughing now at Dyer and crew and I will be laughing in the future at them too!

One last thing. The Dyer man love fan club also stated that they ignore and no longer read anything at other internet sites that people say about Dyer. Maybe they should! But they say they don’t. So if they ever make mention of this specific post by me, you will know they read it and are liars too! They think Rick Dyer is of celebrity status. He is a below average guy who got himself fired from his local police force by lying and deceit. His 15 minutes of fame were up long ago as he desparately tries to recapture that feeling for one more minute. His book failed! His stories fail! Failure is an apt word that comes to mind with anything related to Dyer. And his little flamboyant followers should at least follow someone who is a real celebrity. Even D list celebrities are way above Dyer in terms of fame. Pick one of them girls or boys or whatever you call yourselves. And no, I am not cutting on you personally. You might be great people and have love for your fellow human beings as I do. I am cutting on your decision making, poor choices, denouncing your spreading of Dyer’s lies and stories, and your lack of using the common sense God gave you. You Dyer lovers are probably great people but not very good Christians as you preach to others and gossip, which is a sin! Unless what you say is true about a hermaphroditic, pregnant BIgfoot.

Guess what? Someone will be laughing and how can I put this in terms you might grasp–oh yeah, someone will be laughing and it ain’t gonna be you Dyer loving boys.

By the way Bipedal… It IS evidence to be judged. Craig is simply informing, not endorsing…

    Thank you Craig!

  19. dconstrukt responds:

lol…cant even believe we’re having this conversation…. you guys are SO desperate for content and news…

you wont see ANY other blog in another niche promote posts from known liars and hoaxers…. only in this community.

    its mind boggling.

the more you promote his crappy, hoaxed garbage, the more you promote him… a known hoaxer and liar.

now I associate this cronie with CM…. and I associate CM with less than quality content…. (mermaid crap, promoting hoaxers)

just dont post shit from him and the guy (and the rest of his kind) will disappear.

posting stuff from him is a DETRIMENT to your community…

a detriment to what you believe.

and a detriment for getting others to believe.

and you wonder why ppl think bigfoot is fake and BS?

    cronies like dyer…

yet its cool to keep posting his garbage?

    gimme a break.

  20. PhotoExpert responds:

CleanPanties–Thank you! I see you get it too! It is evidence to be judged as you said. We are the judges and Craig is simply presenting the evidence or informing us as you stated so precisely.

  21. dconstrukt responds:

LOL what a bunch of clowns.

only on this community do liars and hoaxers keep getting news…. people keep wanting to know…

you guys are so f’n desperate for a story and so desperate to believe, you’ll do anything…

    and I mean anything.

even listen to someone who’s already been proven a liar and hoaxer.

    sad… very sad folks…

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
