Honey Island Swamp Monster Caught on Video?

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on June 1st, 2007

Another interesting video found on youtube.

Not sure what to make of this one.

Maybe misidentification? Maybe cryptid?

I don’t think it was hoaxed/staged.

Following is the text from youtube. I am assuming that the location is New Orleans, LA, hence my tag of the Honey Island Swamp Monster.

we saw this animal while we were camping in new orleans. it looked like a green monkey. maybe somebody knows what this is.danthaniak

Update:

Not only do we have the hoaxers to contend with on youtube, but we also have the viral marketers as well.

Cryptomundo reader poodpood was the first to tip me off to the fact that this has to do with a movie entitled Labou about some strange creatures that live in the swamps of Louisiana.

More information about the film can be found at the following websites:

    Slow day Craig?

  2. Tobar responds:

Huh…..I dunno. The creature seemed sharper than the rest of the video but I could be wrong.

  3. captiannemo responds:

    Camping with Jim Henson

  4. MMTHPOOLGHSTCMPR responds:

I didn’t think that “tickle me Elmo” liked camping.

This video is weak, just like the camera man and the other make believers. And “tickle me Elmo” must be doing steroids because his head has gotten bigger and is starting to look like “Stewey’s” head on the Family Guy. lol

  5. maheekat responds:

    staged

  6. Raptorial responds:

It’s a thing for a movie called Labou or something to that effect. It has been around for a while, and I really wish that it would disappear. My state’s most famous cryptid gives me pride, but this video gives me shame.

  7. sasquatch responds:

It looked like one of those gremlin puppets and it was pulled off the trailer by someone on the other side.

  8. Lorenzo Rossi responds:

    I completely agree sasquatch’s opinion.

From my point of view it’s clearly a puppet.

  9. YourPTR! responds:

    Worst video yet!

  10. CryptoGoji responds:

What happens what the Creature for the Black Lagoon and Godzilla breed…. you get the above creature.

  11. cabochris responds:

For a good laugh. Made my morning!

  12. sschaper responds:

The acting was believable. It is going to be harder to catch fakes because of this. Not the critter, the people and the filming techniques.

  13. seethingcauldron responds:

    Clearly a staged set up.

I’ve acted and produced professionally. These people are too polished for reality. They speak perfectly clearly and annunciate perfectly, they are spotlessly clean, they are too darned attractive and they seem to fight to be included in the shot when non-actors generally shy away from the camera. Whenever I watch one of these ‘accidental encounter’ shots, that’s the kind of thing I’m looking for.

  14. Maine Crypto responds:

This is not the only movie being made on the Honey Island swamp monster, just go to americanmonsters.com and you can see for yourself. This was pretty funny if you ask me. I especially loved the “chirping” noise before the sighting!

  15. mystery_man responds:

    Could be a Kappa!
