‘Masters of Horror’

Showtime’s ‘Masters of Horror’, which premiered last Friday night, will feature 13 original episodes directed by famed horror directors. And at least one of the episodes has a cryptozoological theme. In an AP article that was published on the CNN website last Thursday, details for the episode are given.

John Landis co-wrote his episode, Deer Woman, with his 20-year old son, Max Landis.

"I didn’t want to do a typical horror movie with serial killers or zombies," says the director.

Instead, he turned to a book on cryptozoology, the study of mythological beings. "(‘Deer Woman’) comes from an Indian myth, where you have this drop-dead gorgeous woman that comes out of the forest and seduces warriors," Landis explains. "From the thighs up, she’s this magnificent, beautiful woman, and from the thighs down, she’s a deer. And she seduces men and then kills them, quite brutally."

Yikes – lmao. But a deer woman?

  2. Autumnbelle responds:

We native women are wily, there’s no doubt. About the legend itself, here is a good version of the story.
