Loch Ness Monster Film Trailer Surfaces

The Waterhorse Legend of the Deep

Watching the trailer for the upcoming Loch Ness Monster film, The Waterhorse, I am struck by the similarity of the film to the canceled NBC series Surface.

In both, the young male character finds a mysterious egg and takes it home and hatches an aquatic cryptid that he then goes to great lengths to hide.

Hopefully, that will be the only similarity, as I am really looking forward to the film.

Very Kool. Being an owner 5 English Bulldog’s and a Nessie fan, it’s only natural that I find this film will be amusing. Can’t wait to see it.

I preferred Invasion to Surface. I’m sorry it was canceled. I started out thinking I would like Surface but it got real bad REAL quick. There is also a similar movie (Jim Henson’s Creature shop did the critter for it) that I keep meaning to rent for my kids. I’ll try to get the name if nobody else can remember it.

  3. cmgrace responds:

Am I the only one who liked Surface? My husband and I were upset when it was cancelled.

As for the movie I can’t wait. My kids and I are going to love it!

  4. mitchigan responds:

    Way Cool!

Saw this trailer in the theater. Looks like it might be fun.

  6. Tobar responds:

I was wondering when you guys were gonna get around to mentioning the trailer. =)

  7. mauka responds:

Looks like a kid movie. But it should be interesting. Hopefully (sorry for my spelling) it is better then the later 3/4 of SUrface. Also what I saw of Invasion was good. The problem with surface was that the actors were not great and the story had some radical twists. I hated that the creatures were man made. Thats when I stopped watching.

  8. twblack responds:

I for one did like surface and this movie looks way cool. I love the end of the trailer poor little bulldog.

  9. kithra responds:

Yes, cmgrace, I liked Surface too when it was shown here in the UK. The actors were very wooden, but the plot was great. I’m sorry to hear it’s been cancelled.

    Poor little bulldog indeed. lol

  11. cmgrace responds:

Thank God. I was really starting to feel a bit lonely.

I liked Surface, too. I started out watching both Surface and Invasion. Settled on just Surface. Was sorry to see it go. The Waterhorse looks very similar to Surface, at least for the first part. I plan on seeing it eventually.

  13. aberdeenfc1983 responds:

This film is a disgrace which takes the core out of the whole mystery.
Also why do American producers ALWAYS portray Scotland as only having one accent, that of the Glaswegian?
Just like America, there are various, noticeable different accents, like the easy coast Aberdonian accent, Glaswegian and the Inverness accents (which sound nothing like the accent in this film.)
Somebody please write back that has a different view because I am intriguied as to why the yanks do this every time.

  14. LTMatt responds:

The first thing I thought when I saw the trailer was, “Hey, that looks an awful lot like the show ‘Surface'”.

I really liked Surface. I believe a lot of people were let down when they canceled the show, particularly at such a crux in the plot.

Finding the egg floating in a lake/ocean. Raising it in the fish tank. Putting it in the bathtub. I wonder if there can’t be any influence.
