Patterson-style Bigfoot In Wyoming, 1961 8mm Amateur Film/Home Movie!

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on February 25th, 2014

Found 8mm amateur footage of what appears to be a Patterson-style Sasquatch (albeit wearing a hat and pants) in Wyoming, 1961. Notice how the car backs away in fear! Film found at a garage sale. Scanned with a Moviestuff Retro-8 (no additional processing), music by me. And before anyone posts about this being a hoax, or stupid, or whatever, yes, I know it’s just some guy. But he was walking sorta like Bigfoot so I thought I’d share. Let’s see how many comments I can get from folks who haven’t read this far into the description.

Bipedal cryptid wearing pants and a hat… son, whatcha got thar is Smokey Bar!

  2. cryptokellie responds:

Oh come on…this is a man in shirt, pants and hat. The only real question is, why is the vehicle moving in reverse…not much of a question at that.

  3. Rebar responds:

Very short stride . . . nice hat though.

    LOVE this post, Craig. Sweet!

Since I don’t feel like doing work, but am trapped here until five, allow me to take a stab.

The fellow is wearing a hat and work gloves, obviously ready for some time in the sun doing work. He has a coil of material on his right shoulder going under his left arm, either rope or fence wire. While he is fit, this coil adds bulk to his form and makes his pecs appear more defined than they normally would. He is wearing a heavy belt- could be a sidearm belt, but it appears there might be a pouch at the right front (hard to tell for sure), if so, it would be a work belt to hold tools and fence staples.

If it is rope he is probably being dropped off at a corral. If it is wire he is probably mending the fence. There is a dirt road entrance there, what lies beyond?

Perhaps we could blow up a still of the hood ornament on a computer, repeating the invocation “enhance”, flatten the reflection using grid mapping software, and see a perfect layout of the field in question, just like on CSI.

What about the vehicle? The jet hood ornament with the dual exhaust and the wing tips melding into the hood lines say its a mid 50s oldsmobile. A coupe no less. Not a work vehicle, but the fancy car most ranches have for driving into town.

It is possible the car is backing up to a point the man will work to in order to pick him up again, but Mom and fidgety little Billy Bob (manning the camera) are too impatient to wait in the heat of the sun.

The shadow indicates that it is just a little past noon. This means that Mrs. Rancher is dropping hubby off at his chore site after a nice lunch of spam and pineapple made from a recipe she got from the Womans Day magazine. She is baking up to the driveway of the ranch in order to tun the other direction to go into town for groceries with little Billy Bob Jr., whom she has promised to buy a copy of Famous Monsters of Filmland if he will stop kicking the glove box, as the rest of the film would show if there were not a conspiracy to hide the truth from us.

  6. SirWilhelm responds:

    The arms are too short.
