Pop Culture Cryptids Redux or Yes Virginia, There is a Sea Serpent

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on November 22nd, 2005

In Parkersburg West Virginia, the local Christmas display, Holiday in the Park, features a cryptid or 2. Sunday’s News & Sentinel details the official start of the display from the night before.

The seasonal display features a sea serpent and a fire-breathing dragon. Another overwhelming “display” of cryptozoology in today’s society.

Evelye Barnet, of Elizabeth, is on the lighting committee responsible for organizing the event each year.

“The most popular with the kids is the dragon and the sea serpent,” she said. “We enjoy doing this and the kids love it. It’s good for Parkersburg.”
