Breaking News: Sasquatch DNA Press Conference in Dallas Today!

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 1st, 2013

Well, apparently The Erickson Project and The Sasquatch Genome Project held a press conference today in Dallas. Had I known, I would have attended.

From what I understand however, said press conference was invite only, and was not announced prior to being held.

They did however release additional footage not previously publicly seen from The Erickson Project.

DALLAS, Oct 1 – On October 1, the Sasquatch Genome Project will screen never-before-seen high-definition video of Bigfoot subjects inhabiting the forests of North America. The exclusive footage comes from the long-awaited Erickson Project, a multi-site effort led by entrepreneur Adrian Erickson to capture definitive video and DNA evidence from the elusive Sasquatch.

The Sasquatch Genome Project, led by Dr. Melba Ketchum, is the group responsible for the 5-year study and genomic sequencing of Sasquatch DNA, “Novel North American Hominins, Next Generation Sequencing of Three Whole Genomes and Associated Studies,” that passed scientific peer review in January and was published in February of this year. In conjunction with the screening of the new Erickson footage, the DNA study will be made available for all online as open-access at sasquatchgenomeproject.org

Adrian Erickson will present his HD footage accompanied by researcher Dennis Pfohl, who personally captured video and collected DNA samples from Sasquatch individuals. Dr. Ketchum will also present physical Sasquatch samples used in the DNA study and new specimens under ongoing investigation, and discuss sample chain of custody, study results, and bias encountered from the scientific establishment.

WHAT: Press conference screening of never-before-seen HD video of Bigfoot and explanation of 5-year DNA study and new physical specimens

Bigfoot is real, research teams claim

DALLAS — A team of Sasquatch researchers screened what it called “never before seen HD video” of Bigfoot on Tuesday.

During a news conference, they played several short clips that purported to show various human-like, hairy figures moving about in wooded areas in Kentucky.

The group — led by Dr. Melba Ketchum, a trained veterinarian who founded her own genetics research company — has been collecting data and evidence or the past five years. Their effort is known as The Sasquatch Genome Project.

“This was a serious study,” Ketchum said of the program that they said cost $500,000 to complete.

The exclusive footage came from a similar effort dubbed The Erickson Project, which was led by Adrian Erickson. That group said it captured the “definitive video and DNA evidence from the elusive Sasquatch.”

“Researcher Dennis Pfohl… personally captured video and collected DNA samples from Sasquatch individuals,” the Erickson group said in a written statement.

During Tuesday’s news conference, they played several clips — most of them very short and grainy — that they say is video evidence helping to prove that Bigfoot is real.

According to the group, footage captured in Kentucky in 2005 shows a female Sasquatch sleeping. An extended version of the video is expected to be released in a future documentary.

“We’ve all had experiences that changed our lives,” said Pfohl, the Colorado-based researcher. He said that’s what has driven him to try and prove what he knows is out there.

However, relatively rare sightings and a skeptical public mean the group of scientists has an uphill battle in proving their belief.

Bigfoot believer discusses Sasquatch genome project

Dr. Melba Ketchum is a Bigfoot believer and the director of the Sasquatch DNA Project.

She joined News 8 at 4 to talk about whether she’s serious, what the group hopes to accomplish, where the funding comes from, an what she says the skeptics.

    Yeah, yeah. Sure, sure

  2. Luke Matthew Sentnl via Facebook responds:

Looks like a guy in a wookie costume

  3. Pete Fischer via Facebook responds:

Big news conference…. as big as Rick Dryer and his big reveal that he had a body that he lied about…we were supposed to see this thing by now. Tired of these fools…lets get back to some honest to God research to discover such a remarkable creature.

  4. Bipedal_Bill responds:

I have that exact wookie mask, I should go dig it out of a box and take a picture standing behind a tree. Funny thing is..someone gave it to me as a mock Bigfoot award. Who’dda thunk I could use it to hold a press conference someday.

  5. Luke Matthew Sentnl via Facebook responds:

Face it, big foot, sasquatch, yowie, and plenty of other names around the world… talked about, and apparently spotted in nearly every region on this planet, for hundreds of years…

If something is out there, it either lives in deep unknown cave complexes, or it’s multidimensional…

  6. Jonny Sambuca via Facebook responds:

So Chewbacca is now a female living with a colony of bigfeet in Texas!? Big news conference in front of five bored looking people. Terrible!

  7. Tommy Gilley via Facebook responds:

It’s a lat gasp before Dr. Sykes reveals his results.

  8. DWA responds:

I think it’s great how on some threads one can just skip down to the comments; read them; chuckle and move on.

  9. traveller responds:

Is it just me. Does every bit of “evidence” from The Erickson Project look completely fake?

  10. MadMatt32171 responds:

Seriously? Whatever credibility they had went out the window with that “footage”. Even if it weren’t painfully obvious that they used a wookie mask, there’s nothing in it to suggest anything other than a guy in a suit. Even the fur on the “sleeping” sasquatch looks fake now that you can see it in a high resolution. Do they really believe that people are going to fall for this?

  11. dconstrukt responds:

    crazy videos…

imean… i dunno… some of it looks phony…. but the night stuff its night vision so its going to be grainy for the most part (depending on exactly what type of equipment) so I can understand that.

the walking doesn’t quite seem like the PG one.. .since we tend to use that one as the standard…

how do you guys think these videos compare?

I mean its SOMETHING (or someone) in the videos….

playing devils advocate for a second….

why would errickson go thru all this trouble?

why would all these other ppl be there with him?

usually these hoaxes are just by 1 person… not a whole team of ppl… i mean I can’t see a whole collective of ppl in on a hoax…. but it wouldn’t surprise me in this community.

  12. Goodfoot responds:

traveller: Not just you; at the very least, it’s you and me.

  13. Goodfoot responds:

It occurred to me – fleetingly, at least – that this is so lame it almost seems like a cover-up of some sort. If you really wanted to fake something, it seems like you could do a much better job than this…

But that’s the way my mind works. Experience has taught me well.

  14. airforce47 responds:

    Greetings,

Sorry guys but this footage just doesn’t hack it. If you want to hold a news conference and make major announcements about the existence of Bigfoot then in respect to the late Dr. Carl Sagan you better have solid evidence support your claims.

You must have head on shots of multiple specimens with sufficient exposure and detail to render an examination and analysis by scientists and your stuff doesn’t. Your evidence may or may not be genuine but why waste our time with poor evidence?

Come back when you do have it or get lost will you? My best,

  15. sasquatch responds:

None of their footage looks even 1-100th as real as Patty.
    Liars.

  16. Goodfoot responds:

Carl Sagan? I wasn’t expecting to hear that name. What does he have to do with it, and why are they obligated to “respect” him?

  17. Goodfoot responds:

The footage is unashamedly fraudulent. That they would offer it as “proof” of anything but their own ineptitude and mendacity has me looking for something stronger than my fingers to scratch my head with.

Why would they offer such obvious fakes as “proof” is utterly beyond me. It just doesn’t add up to me.

  18. mandors responds:

“Invite only” press conferences mean the holder is hiding something.

As to Carl Sagan, Goodfoot, I think airforce47 is using him as an exemplar of the scientific method, and I for one think he’s a good one. “The Dragons of Eden,” “Broca’s Brain” both good reads. “The Demon Haunted World” starts well, but by then Carl was dying and his extremist wife injects her political agenda towards the end. Correlation is not Causation a great tenet that few “scientists” really live by anymore.

I can see dconstrukt’s point, why go through all the rigamarole? But I’d say that if we are dealing with people who have no shame and who have and continue to lie, then a show like this isn’t surprising. On the other hand, if it is a fraud, then how are they making any money off stuff like this?

The videos? I don’t know. The “mother” looks fake to me. The teeth just don’t look primate. We have old footage of a orange shag carpet thrown over somebody in the woods. And we have a “juvenal” that walks around like the pantomime Princess Margret.

  19. AreWeThereYeti responds:

@ Goodfoot re, “What does (Carl Sagan) have to do with it, and why are they obligated to ‘respect’ him?”

While it did not originate with him, Carl Sagan is generally credited with popularizing the adage, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.”

Moreover, “in respect to” does not necessarily imply – as your question seems to indicate – that veneration or deference is due, rather it is meant as a synonym for “in reference to” – but I suspect you already knew that, right?

  20. shmargin responds:

Why would they show the Wookie mask video? You can tell its a mask even if it DIDNT look like Chewbacca. It doesn’t move, its mouth hanging open, frozen in place, like, I dunno, a MASK?

  21. MR JOSHUA responds:

If that is what a Bigfoot looks like then I don’t want them to exist. Nice wookie costume. Melba Ketchum is a disgrace to science, please go away.

@dconstrukt – this type of elaborate press conference is nothing new. Just check out some of Tom Biscardi’s exploits. Sucker born every minute !

  22. Goodfoot responds:

An “extraordinary claim” is sometimes in the mind of the doubter only. So an “extraordinary claim” is an extraordinary claim, and often that’s all there is to it.

I will openly admit to genuine enmity towards Card Sagan, and also Isaac Asimov, because both ridiculed and tried to destroy the career of Immanuel Velikovsky, a man who was genuinely too dignified to offer them the rebuttals they richly deserved.

Velikovsky’s theories and claims are being verified more each passing decade, yet not one member of the Scientific Mafia will give him his due. Sagan’s behavior, in particular, was utterly reprehensible towards Velikovsky, who practically single-handedly invented Interdisciplinary Studies. Entire books have been written about Sagan’s savaging of Velikovsky, and his shameless misquoting of V. to make him look bad.

If Sagan were alive today, he’d likely be ridiculing Cryptomundo and misquoting it.

  23. Goodfoot responds:

Exactly. It’s beyond bizarre, and there has to be more to it. I’m not ready to believe they’re THAT stupid. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I think the real blockbuster lies in WHY they’d do such a thing.

  24. silverity responds:

It’s unfortunate that this sasquatch looks like Chewbacca.

Would they be so dumb as to prepetrate such an obvious and dumb stunt?

  25. Goodfoot responds:

silverity: EXACTLY! It doesn’t make any sense. I don’t think these people are THAT stupid. So what’s really going on?

  26. dconstrukt responds:

ya… i was just playing devils advocate for a bit on the questioning…

the videos aren’t compelling to me.

they could be anything (even a wookie from outerspace LOL)

like if you’re going to drop a bomb… you start with your best piece.

    shock and awe.

these jabroni’s failed on that part.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
