As It Happens

And…the primate of their lives. Filmmaker Morgan Matthews tells us about his new documentary, “Shooting Bigfoot” — which watches those who watch and itch to catch Sasquatch.

As It Happens, the Wednesday edition. Radio that goes around the world in an ape-y daze.

The Bigfoot community is seriously abuzz.

The Washington-based brewery Olympia Beer is offering a one-million-dollar bounty for the creature’s “safe capture.” And a team of American and Canadian researchers is planning to comb the Pacific coast with an aerial drone specifically designed to search for Bigfoot.

But it hasn’t all been good news.

Last night, dozens of Bigfoot researchers and enthusiasts descended on Toronto for the world premiere of a film at this year’s Hot Docs festival.

For months, rumour has been circulating that Morgan Matthews’ secretive new documentary, Shooting Bigfoot, was going to blow the lid off the mystery once and for all.

Our producer David McDougall caught up with a group of Bigfoot hunters from Minnesota after the film finished.

Morgan Matthews is the director of Shooting Bigfoot. We reached him in Toronto.
