Silver Bridge Collapse: 49 Years Ago

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on December 15th, 2016

Shared from the Mothman Museum:

Right at this moment 49 year ago, the mighty Silver Bridge collapsed into the icy waters of the Ohio river, taking with it 46 innocent lives. The town of Point Pleasant was never quite the same after that horrific tragedy.

This is a rare color photograph of the aftermath.

Also, we plan on honoring the victims of the Silver Bridge tragedy during Mothman Festival 2017, since it will be the 50th anniversary of the collapse. Many lives were lost that day and lifting them up in honor is the least we can do.
