The Spirit of Sasquatch

Last June while attending the Bigfoot Rendezvous in Pocatello, ID, I picked up a card that was sitting at the registration table. It was for a woman by the name of Kathleen Jones. Along with her contact info, it stated her title as:

Interspecies Communicator and Shamanic Practitioner

Telepathic Communication Sessions with Sasquatch

Last month, the Ventura (CA) County Star published an article about Kathleen Jones and her communications with Sasquatch/Bigfoot.

Old Sasquatch has sage advice for a new age

Amenities on Kathleen Jones’ spread include a fairy mound, sacred space and spiritual power spots for hosting medicine circles.

The retired real estate agent recently hung out her shingle on the Internet as an interspecies communicator and shamanic practitioner.

So I know what you’re thinking: She lives in Ojai.

That was my first thought when I learned through a dear friend — who was surfing when she should have been sleeping — about Jones’ unusual Web site SasquatchSpeaks.org.

Jones actually does not live in Ojai, but she is an Ojai resident in spirit.

I came to learn the Northern California native, who owns a farm in southern Oregon, is not your garden-variety interspecies communicator, either. You know, those mediums who converse with neurotic lap dogs and show horses with stage fright.

By her own admission, Jones is tight with the Sasquatch who inhabit the woods near her spread in the Siskiyous.

Sasquatch, more commonly known as Bigfoot, were not much in the lore of my urban Chicago girlhood. However, I have since learned these creatures are about as tall as an NBA player and covered with dark fur. They reportedly give off a foul order and emit high-pitched squeals. Depending on whose account you put stock in, they are either fearsome beasts or big "Harry and the Hendersons" teddy bears.

Pages on the Internet are devoted to sightings and, I suppose, sniffings, most of which occur in remote areas such as Sespe Creek. Which is near, yes, Ojai.

Since nary a Sasquatch has been captured on anything but film, some folks are skeptical they even exist. Imagine that. Let’s just say I am open-minded.

Jones tells me the Sasquatch have decided to share the knowledge of their ancient tribe with us humans, and she is their designated spokeswoman.

"The wisdom now being shared by Sasquatch is pivotal in shepherding the humans through the upcoming changes on the planet Earth we all share," Jones declared.

To communicate with Sasquatch, she must go into the sacred place on her property. She detects their presence and their smell, which she describes as earthy. Soon her mind fills with their thoughts, which she writes down verbatim. For most folks she charges $95 an hour for a telephone consultation. But because I am a reporter seeking her out as a fresh source, she offered her services free.

Originally I wanted Sasquatch to predict the outcome of Tuesday’s gubernatorial election. But since Phil Angelides’ charisma is harder to detect than Sasquatch, I figured I would try a more heated topic.

Ask, I said, about global warming. Some say Mother Earth is experiencing hot flashes and mere mortals are arrogant to believe they can change the climate of the globe. And if global warming is not man-made, then there is nothing we can do to reverse it.

Others say the inconvenient truth of it is we are baking this lonely planet in emissions from automobiles and smokestacks.

Sasquatch, it seems, puts the blame on us.

Jones made me promise to quote exactly, so here goes: "The humans are contributing to the warming, as you call it. They are trying to control the natural forces and will thus cause themselves to have more pain during this shift of consciousness. The more the humans are out of spirit, out of heart, the greater will be the pain, until it becomes so great that they will be forced to make the shift."

This is when things got hairy. Sasquatch then gave Jones a frightening "telepathic picture" with fear, anger and greed shooting up like flames from the Earth and burning away the ozone layer.

So what can we do about it?

Sasquatch, again: "It is an individual process, but we are all here together, and must work together in this transformation. It appears dark now, but the light is beckoning. ? Live in the light, live in the love in which we were all created."

OK, now I get it. The maharishi is Bigfoot. You never see them at the same party.

The following information is taken from her website, SasquatchSpeaks.org.
