Alaska Cadborosaurus Footage Owner Speaks Up

Posted by: John Kirk on May 25th, 2011

Following the requests of many Cryptomundo readers for more info on the Alaska Cadborosaurus air dates, I went back to the owner of the footage (who will continue to remain nameless at his request) to see if he had any new info on  when his footage might air.

He replied and has advised me that he has contacted both the buying production company and the airing network (Discovery) to find out when it will be aired. They at first said April which is something that most of us knew anyway. They then came back with June and now they have not responded to to his query of when will it air if not June? He and I have not seen an iota of info on when Hillstranded will air. There was a previous statement that Hillstranded will air after the end of this season’s Deadliest Catch, but I have scoured Discovery’s website and not seen a thing about it.

As I said earlier here, Cryptomundo readers should bombard Discovery with letters, phone calls and emails asking that the footage be aired with the best enhancements possible. We need to launch a PR campaign to get this shown. I am that impressed by the footage that I feel everybody deserves to see it and make up their own minds on the amazing animals in this footage.

So keep sending your respectful correspondence to Discovery and insist they show it. Also the scoffers who read these columns, instead of moaning and griping, you should also email Discovery so that you can put yourself out of your misery one way or the other. If you don’t write to Discovery and support this endeavour, then don’t come crying in your cornflakes here. Be part of the solution not the problem. I respect anyone’s right to be skeptical, but I have zero tolerance for cynics and whiners.

Further to the issue of length of these creatures, There are large ones, medium sized ones and small ones. When you contrast them to known animals like the belugas in terms of size they are definitely bigger than the whales, but 40 feet is way too large. Only one creature’s head is fully visible and it looks like a camel’s so where the owner’s son got the idea it looked like the nose of a jumbo jet is a mystery. When the owner first invited me to see the film, he sent me drawings and stills of what he had seen. The stills weren’t impressive because I guess he didn’t want to give the good stuff away. The drawings were fantastic, but they didn’t show the creatures as they actually appear in the video. Some of this was subjective reasoning on the owner’s part as to what he thought they might look like rather than what they actually looked like.

One of the great things about the authenticity of the location of this film is that you can actually see the Northwestern from the Deadliest Catch in the video. I am amazed that Sig Hansen and the boys weren’t able to see the creatures as they swam down the channel and then back up again. Perhaps they weren’t onboard at the time.

Let’s keep respectfully asking Discovery  to air the footage and do it soon. Start typing now!!!

  1. planettom responds:

    Awesome!

  2. Mibs responds:

Thanks for clarifying the Moose-head vs. Airplane head confusion. I’ve already left a message at Discovery requesting that this footage be released or featured on any one of their programs (preferably “River Monsters” so Jeremy Wade can weigh in on the subject).

  3. vladkraven responds:

Like I said before, Twitter is critical in getting this campaign off the ground. Call out discovery directly @Discovery as well as @DeadliestCatch and use creative # like #DiscoveryDinosaur.

Here’s a sample message I’ve used: @Discovery & @DeadliestCatch do you have any plans on ever releasing the Cadborosaurus footage? #DiscoveryDinosaur #releasethekraken #crypto

  4. eyecitga responds:

John, you just made my day, my friend! This is truly exciting news. I hope we can get this footage out to the public in a timely manner. I feel we have a right to know. Hate to sound like a spoiled brat but this has been an exhausting wait. I’ll keep my eyes and ears peeled for anything new. Thanks again, Loren, for having a place like this for us believers to come to!!

  5. korollocke responds:

First off I’m not a scoffer, I know if there was real sea monster/marine dinosaur footage Discovery would have been ape to show it and not sit on it. I’ve been strung along too many times with things like this before, the dead ogogpogo/rotten fish reveal ratings scam comes to mind as a recent one.

  6. TimmyRyan65 responds:

We’ve all seen this article but read it closer.

It says the Hillstranded specials will air after Deadliest Catch debuts in April. A few paragraphs before that states the specials will air in June! So there we go!

Sadly the general public has no idea what the Discovery Channel has and has pushed it on a self described “goofy” & “Fun” show. If the footage is as good a people say it is then it should have its own special!

    We shall see!

  7. mandors responds:

Maybe the son meant the head looked like a Concorde jet with the nose in landing/takeoff position.

  8. fuzzy responds:

    TimmyRyan65 – “We shall see!”

    Or not.

  9. whiteriverfisherman responds:

“I respect anyone’s right to be skeptical, but I have zero tolerance for cynics and whiners.”

Well put!! That’s a great line!

I am not sure what the deal is with this footage and Discovery, but if it is as fantastic as you say it is, I am sure it is causing a huge stir behind the scenes.

I am skeptical of this story but at the same time I would love to be proven wrong.

A head like a camel fits eyewitness accounts of Champ and other North American Lake creatures. I find that interesting.

Hopefully they will release this footage for all to see soon.

  10. sonofthedestroyer responds:

I just sent Discovery an email.

Hope the media won’t take us for a ride this time.

  11. Mibs responds:

The Antarctic Leopard Seal is rather large and has a head that resembles a Jumbo Jet. I wonder if if Caddy is a mutated cousin of this creature? I don’t know how to link pics here but I’ve Googled a few and even found a skeleton of the Leopard Seal that looks (if you remove the ribs) like the form factor of the unknown carcass found in the stomach of the Humpback Whale many decades ago.

    Something to consider.

  12. alegler responds:

I was at the aquarium this weekend looking at a tank that contained several Sea Dragons, and it occurred to me that the overall description of these creatures could resemble these known animals. Sea Dragons.

Loren – if you have seen the footage – any thoughts on that potential comparison?

Is it possible that Cadborosaurus is actually a giant Sea Dragon?

Let’s hope that Discovery will come through with the footage soon.

  13. Mibs responds:

    Hey Alegler,

In addition to the idea of a giant Sea Dragon you could add Giant Pipe Fish. They are long and snake like but fit into your hand. They also come from the same family as Sea Dragons.

I’ve always wondered if a coldwater (and larger version) of Pipefish could have thrived in the thick kelp beds along the Pacific Northwest all the way to the North East Asian Pacific Rim.

  14. rickodemilo responds:

Has anybody started a facebook page regarding the issue?

  15. JBrook responds:

    Good idea vladkraven.

I created a twitter account @cryptomundo1, I’m sending messages once or twice daily encouraging them to release the footage. #livingdinosaurs
