“These new specials push me to go further than I have ever gone before…” –Les Stroud

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Les Stroud, host of the Science Channel’s Survivorman series, will have two upcoming specials. The specials are titled Survivorman & Son and Survivorman: Bigfoot Sasquatch Territory. Below you can read excerpts from the Hollywood Reporter regarding details on the Bigfoot special.

In Bigfoot Sasquatch Territory, a two-part special, Stroud goes deep into the territory of the infamous Bigfoot to survive with few supplies and even fewer rations, “smack dab in the middle of the monster’s hotspots.” He also will delve into the truth behind the legend as he investigates the whereabouts of this infamous creature.

The Hollywood Reporter leaves it at that. you can read about the second special Survivorman & Son in the same article. Watch Les Stroud talk about his Bigfoot encounters below.

  1. volmar responds:

Les is THE guy to find Bigfoot. He’s the real deal, unlike some TV show hosts.

  2. cryptokellie responds:

Now that’s more like it. I’ve been suggesting this idea for years.

Only problem I see is with the time allowed…I really feel that a tracker/survivalist will have to spend 6 months to a year in a Bigfoot hot-zone to achieve real results. A couple of days won’t get it done. It will take a long time for the person to become “Part” of the surroundings and be acceptable as actually belonging there and no longer intrusive as all other expeditions plainly are.

I have high hopes but – we’ll probably only get a couple days to a week in the woods and the standard creepy audio and or blurry video/stills…I mean, come on, they’re going to announce and do this and not find something – anything?

  3. JTTM69 responds:

Do you really think if any concrete evidence is found they would put it on this show? What we will see is a good scientific approach that will NOT answer the question.

  4. dconstrukt responds:

love him telling the story… looking fwd to seeing this if/when it get done. 🙂

  5. etheral responds:

Now THIS will be the show to watch. Les is definitely the man and if anyone can find solid proof, he can. I literally can’t wait to watch this special.

  6. kbraun responds:

I don’t know. I think if he came up with any real evidence , we would have already heard about it. I’ve met him and I think he’s honest. Can’t wait to watch the 2 part special.

  7. DWA responds:

Gotta go with cryptokellie on this one.

Field time is what’s going to get this done. Here’s the guy who can put in serious field time. To do a “Finding Bigfoot”-style go-all-over-the-place gig with him is a waste.

NAWAC is doing this the way it must be done. (Namely, the way Goodall and Fossey and Schaller et al – oh, and Patterson and Gimlin – did it before them.) But they have problems putting in the time, being real people with surreal jobs and all. I was hoping that Survivorman + network $$ might equal NAWAC, only for more time.

There seems to be a perception that the stay-in-place scenario will be bad TV. I don’t think any judgment in the history of the medium could be further from the truth. There will be long boring stretches. Know another show that had those? “Planet Earth.” Really boring show, wasn’t it.

  8. Cryptidcrazy responds:

I can’t wait. Stroud is probably the best guy out there for the job. He actually heard these creatures in Alaska and he really wants to know what they are. He is the type of person who will push himself to the limits to find the truth.

  9. etheral responds:

I simply cannot wait to see this one. Will he prove it exists? Probably not or we’d have heard about it hopefully. It will still be interesting as Les is a class act.

  10. eyeofstrm responds:

Listened to a Les Stroud interview a good while back when He presented this idea originally. If I remember correctly he had talked about doing this with the proper supplies where he could stay out for a couple of months. He has already experienced what would be classified as two class B encounters. Big fan of Les, have read all of his books. He’s taught me a great deal which has helped me when I primitive camp in the Minnesota Boundary Waters. If anyone can get it done I’m sure he can.
