Abominable Snowman Theft

Posted by: Loren Coleman on January 4th, 2012

The Cleveland Sun published the following notice in their “Police Blotter” section at the end of 2011.

THEFT, BRIDGESIDE DRIVE: A resident called police on Dec. 22 at 12:19 a.m. to report that a light-up Abominable Snowman was stolen from their yard. In its place, the culprits left a chicken decoration that did not belong there. An officer reported taking the errant chicken into custody and transporting it to the police station.

Apparently, the Yeti is still missing.

Perhaps we could suggest another design for this neighborhood’s future Abominable Snowman displays:

About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013.

    What a fowl deed . . . (sorry).

    Re: Abominable Snowman Theft;

    Does the following refer to this event?

    from Desmond Morris quotes ~

    “…it has been shown off, concealed, styled, cut, trimmed, extended, straightened, waved, put up, let down, colored and decorated in a thousand ways.”

    “We never stop investigating. We are never satisfied that we know enough to get by. Every question we answer leads on to another question. This has become the greatest survival trick of our species.”

    “Clearly, then, the city is not a concrete jungle, it is a human zoo.”

    (Did the author of The Naked Ape foresee this Cleveland crime?)

    +++

    “There are eight million stories in The Naked City. This has been one of them.”
    ~The famous closing narration of the 1958 TV series~
