I’m writing to clear up a bit of disinformation that is circulating.
Several people have called my attention to an erroneous posting on Erick Beckjord’s blog website claiming that my cryptozoology classes are defunct at Florida Keys Community College.
As most of you know, I took a sabbatical for this semester to attempt some “research” with Tom Biscardi. This project did not pan out for professional reasons I need not go into here.
I have no idea where Beckjord got his information, but I have a copy of an email he sent to the college in an attempt to solicit a teaching post there and oust me from the faculty.
People who are genuinely interested in cryptozoology subject matter will be pleased to know that the college HAS asked me to offer at least one workshop during the spring term 2008. I have agreed and the date or dates will be announced after the Winter Break.
We are also considering the full course, but I don’t think that time will permit this coming term as I have already committed to complete the second part of my Bigfoot in Art trilogy for “Elementum Bestia II” to be compiled by Craig Heinzelman and a number of video projects currently are in the works during the spring term time frame.
If the cryptozoology course is not offered during the summer term, when things should quiet down, I will offer it in the fall of 2008. I can also offer, in the highly unlikely event the college would decline, on the Pangea Institute’s Academy “sister website’ (that would be good news for students as the tuition would be much less than through the college).Scott Marlowe, Pangea Institute, Winter Haven, Florida.
About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct).
Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015.
Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
