Bigfoot: Ten Video Appearances

Posted by: Loren Coleman on March 30th, 2007

Over at “Forces of Good,” Stefan Blitz has posted his ten most favorite video clips of “Bigfoot Appearances.”

I note that only two appearances of the gathering, #1 and #10, can be said to be nonfiction. Most are popular culture icons, snippets from movies, ads, and reality programs that are entirely fictional. Nevertheless, it is a good little collection, and Blitz is to be congratulated for posting these YouTube-like clips all in one place.

Here is his list:

TOP TEN BIGFOOT APPEARANCES

Ah, the famed Sasquatch. Of all of my favorite crypto-creatures, you are by far my favorite. Luckily, the world of pop culture agrees with me! Therefore, I give you my ten favorite appearances of the legendary creature in popular culture.

1. The Grandaddy of them all: The Roger Patterson/Bob Gimlin footage that brought the big fella to the public eye.

2. Harry and the Hendersons: Sasquatch; Spielberg style.

3. The Six-Million Dollar Man: The Bionic Bigfoot

4. The Venture Brothers: See number three.

5. Bigfoot and Wildboy: Saturday mornings get in on the action.

6. Scare Tactics: Spooky candid camera.

7. Boggy Creek: Scary ass Bigfoot

8. Jack Link’s Beef Jerky: Messing with Sasquatch via clever advertising.

9. Tenacious D: Sasquatch – Crypto-Rock

10. In Search Of: Leonard Nimoy’s scientific investigations only propelled interest.Stefan Blitz at Friday, March 30, 2007

Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. “…Sasquatch doesn’t have anything you haven’t seen before!”
“SASQUATCH IS SOMETHING I HAVEN’T SEEN BEFORE!!!”

    Priceless!

All too good! Thanks a million Loren! Will be listening to C2C on April 24th!

    GO SASQUATCH!

  2. elsanto responds:

I, for one, highly recommend Graham Romieu’s books about Bigfoot, including the brilliant “Me Write Book: It Bigfoot Memoir”. That easily beats Tenacious D. If you’ve not read it, go out and get it.

  3. joppa responds:

Where does extraterrestrial Bigfoots fit in ? I always thought Wookies should get some respect.

  4. skeptik responds:

    *finding BF tracks*
    – What? Again?
    – You still think bigfoot’s a hoax?
    – I don’t know what to think.
    – I’ll telll you what I think. I think these tracks lead to Marlene Becky.
    – Where else do they lead, Steve? Where else?

    Cracked me up:)

  5. Cutch responds:

“‘In Search Of Sasquatch’, that was a kick-*** ‘In Search Of’, with Leonard Nemoy, kickin’ out the jams, ahh!”

Glad to see that the D made the list – you’ve got to love it when Academy Award Winner John C. Reilly plays an uncredited cryptozoological beast, both in the HBO series AND in “The Pick of Destiny”.

  6. mystery_man responds:

Nerd Alert- See, I think Wookies and Wampas were most likely based on Bigfoot and therefore are just as eligable for this list as the others! 🙂 They are the Bigfoot of the stars, man! 🙂

  7. peterbernard responds:

    No love for Chewbacca?

  8. mystery_man responds:

Maybe Chewbacca could get some sort of honorary mention? Oh alright, I’ll stop…
    🙂

  9. harleyb responds:

The Sasquatch song by Tenacious D rules!!

  10. ladd responds:

Great list! Number 1 will always be #1 for me and #7 continues to creep me out after all these years.

  11. joppa responds:

Hey, they missed the McGuyver bigfoot. He was a guy in a suit, but was really scary until Mac pulled his mask off. And, I second the vote for Wookie recognition.

  12. dws responds:

Dwarf Bigfoots (Contratictory statement) ARE EWOK!!!

  13. 0spike0 responds:

where do i go to hunt down the first monster i will kill it and bring it back tell me where
