BFRO TV Production, Spring 2009

Posted by: Loren Coleman on September 22nd, 2008

In the spring of 2009, the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) will begin production of its television series, in Canada.

Earlier this year HBO (Home Box Office), an American cable network, had expressed interest in producing a TV series about the work of the BFRO, as a “web-cast” series, which appealed to the group because it would allow the group’s entire large international following to watch the series as well. But when budgeting issues could not be resolved with HBO, a Hollywood friend of the BFRO, Michael Rosenberg, looked for a different production company to take on the project.

Michael Rosenberg contacted producer Steven Silver of the Canadian independent production company Barna-Alper (which was recently acquired by Canadian media conglomerate Entertainment One). After two meetings, Steven Silver agreed to produce the series.

Barna-Alper will decide which Canadian broadcaster will be best suited for this program. Currently it looks as though the series will air on Canada’s TruTV channel. According to the BFRO, the topic of Bigfoot/Sasquatch is very popular in Canada, so interest in the series is expected to be broad-based.

No matter which Canadian broadcaster is selected by Barna-Alper, the series will undoubtedly, the BFRO predicts, be syndicated in the U.S., England, and Australia.

Production will begin in Spring 2009. The series is expected (by the BFRO) to go on for several seasons. There is no indication yet when the series will initially be broadcast on television.

(Thanks to Gavin Joth for bringing this to our attention.)

Meanwhile, if pseudocryptofiction is your cinema cup of tea, Jurassic Park IV is scheduled for release in 2009 too.
