Lost Weekend Rescued

Posted by: Loren Coleman on August 3rd, 2008

Yep, perhaps it was the Montauk Monster, but something caused Cryptomundo to go down early in the pre-dawn A.M. on Saturday, August 2, 2008. It just was returned online.

Cryptomundo is back and we don’t know why we were gone. What did you do with this time?

I hope you all used it productively…perhaps shopping for Loch Ness water…

Or picking up Bigfoot objects at flea markets.

Of course, it was good time to catch up on the comics too.

Or to ponder old cryptid photographs.

No matter what, the news was still gathered, and I will catch you up on various things and thoughts that have been occurring since Friday.

Check back tonight and early tomorrow for more stories.

I certainly missed Cryptomundo.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

  6. Terry W. Colvin responds:

Glad your site is up and working. Dunno if the outage was a hacker
attack or perhaps internet resetting. I’ve seen duplicate e-mails on
    several lists.

    Terry

  7. greywolf responds:

Gee! I thought the guys from Gerogia got mad and sent you a monkey wrench e-mail,

  8. mystery_man responds:

I’m so glad it wasn’t just my computer. Not being much of a computer guy, I couldn’t figure out what was going on and thought that maybe I had a virus or something. That or my computer had achieved self awareness and begun to decide I had been spending too much time perusing the site. 🙂

  9. Lightning Orb responds:

Oh well, sometimes computers just get inexplicably hexed now and then… Is it possible this has something to do with all the lightning activity this year? Electrical storms are supposed to be at a high this year because of the 11-year sunspot cycle. But let’s figure this out scietifically… we haven’t heard much from Mothman lately – could he have done it? Or the Jersey devil? 🙂 But seriously, it would be interesting to see if Agust 2nd was a particularly important date in cryptozoological or paranormal history – just in case…

  10. Cryptid Hunt21 responds:

Well I recently came back from Lake Champlain. I’m also heading to Whitehall New York this August for Sasquatch reports down in thar area.

  11. SOCALcryptid responds:

I am happy that Cryptomundo is back on line. I started to get the Cryptomundian blues.

  12. Rogutaan responds:

Good to see the site back up. This is one of the first sites I check up on, just to get the new scoop on the weird things in life.

  13. imandos responds:

You ask what we were doing with our time. Well, we were defending the idea that Cryptomundo existed to the Scientific Internet Community. Despite all of our evidence which includes having Crytomundo sightings going back years, many references from other Sites to Cryptomundo, and mention of the site in books, the Scientific Internet Community wrote us off as whack jobs since there was no physical evidence in the form of a URL/Website body. All the evidence, including unique registered domain name, were written off as minor and it was stated that if Cryptomundo existed, why could we not provide one example of the website.

They denied the existence of Cryptomundo further by stating, “with so many people using the internet, why wouldn’t at least one have hit Cryptomundo with a search engine and thus provided, the so called body/website needed for proof.” Will we never have enough evidence to prove this site’s existence? Even when showed a web screen capture of the site, they argued that it was just some Yahoo pretending to be Cryptomundo (we won’t go into one of our fellow Cryptomundoologist’s idea that it in fact proved that Hackers had killed a whole family of Cryptomundo sites since the screen capture to him suggested that the site was acting slow, and there was a red tint to the bottom of the screen when he enhanced it). Still, infighting aside, we are left wondering, how much more evidence do we need. Until we put a computer with the Site/body of Cryptomundo loaded, right in front of the Scientific Internet Community, they will deny what we have seen is real. It was a long weekend for those of us who believe.

  14. davidk responds:

    @imandos

ROFL! Thanks for posting that. I spat coffee all over my monitor! 🙂

  15. Ceroill responds:

Welcome back, guys! I was wondering what had happened, I hope it can be figured out what was wrong.

  16. Z responds:

my first thought was that those chumps over at bigfoottracker hacked you but they’re probably not clever enough for that.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
