Love Letter to Cryptomundo

Posted by: Loren Coleman on July 24th, 2008

You know, without Cryptomundo, these guys’ “Bigfoot body” story would be basically unknown and they won’t be getting their 20,000 hits. But, what the heck, you Cryptomundians are always under-appreciated.

I do wish to thank the Georgia Bigfoot guys for their continued criticisms and product placements of Bigfoot! The True Story of Apes in America (NY: Simon and Schuster, 2003), on their YouTube videos.

My only hope is that the computer Officer Whitton uses to write his police reports or his forthcoming groundbreaking new book has a spellchecker. šŸ™‚

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the worldā€™s leading cryptozoologists, some say ā€œtheā€ leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sandersonā€™s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Colemanā€™s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

And I only hope that in the next videos they use the soundtrack of ANOTHER 80’s television show. How about ‘Starsky & Hutch’ you guys. No? ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ then šŸ™‚

C’mon guys, show us something! An eye! A hand! A fingerā€”just not the middle one as you’ve been doing until now šŸ˜‰

  2. Bake Neko responds:

“cryptomudo aka wacko city” This all is just plain childish in form and execution. At least these guys are giving your book some advertisement Mr. Coleman.

  3. Buzzard responds:

They spelled “coming” wrong multiple times. LOL

  4. mystery_man responds:

Well if scientific skepticism is considered “backlash”, then we are the least of these guys’ problems.

I have to hand it to these guys. They sure do have a professional and mature way of dealing with honest criticism. I would recommend the Loren maintain this professional climate and respond with something like “I’m rubber, you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you. Nah nah nah.”

Seriously, how petty is this? Give me a break.

  5. bill green responds:

the knight rider music is catchy in this video. but im very skeptical of this whole situation. thanks bill green

  6. RHFay responds:

This sort of reminds me of the alien autopsy hullaballoo a few years back. A great noise over…nuttin’.

Yes, a healthy dose of skepticism is definitely called for in this case. Anything less would be, well, wacko.

  7. PhotoExpert responds:

Well, looks like we, or at least, I, had it right when I implied that the cop and his hillbilly friends were “uneducated”. As it turns out, I was right again.

Hey, delusional holder of the BF body, the word “coming” is spelled c-o-m-i-n-g. That is second grade stuff! I just watched the show, “Are you smarter than a fifth grader”. If you were on that show, they would have to rename it.

Is it September 1st or October 1st, that we are going to be shocked? I can’t seem to get a handle on the date since you have confused it.

Seriously though, I am shocked already. I am shocked that you continue to try and get through this tangled web you weaved. I see you are refunding the money. I guess your police agency talked to you about possible ramifications of this so called joke. And you finally replaced the mythical lawyer
that you claim was looking into this and replaced him with a real lawyer. You obviously learned what defrauding the public for financial gain really means and now you are refunding the money for expeditions that you may have been paid for in advance of your fraudulent claims.

I am not only shocked by your spelling but I am shocked that you would call Cryptomundo, “wacko city” or whatever name you came up with for the people who called you out on your bluff of a BF body. Let’s see, a cop comes up with an idea of a hoax. Does not think it out totally. And then procedes to involve his friends and family members into the hoax for the sole benefit of making money. This person lacks the education to understand that defrauding the public for financial gain is indeed fraud. Then as he sees what “wackos” have written here in an attempt to educate him in the legal aspects of fraud, he continues down the same path. He involves his brother as a doctor flown in to see the BF body. Another lie. Got found out in about a second by the so called wackos, and was so surprised by this he stated it in video. As the lies pile up and are easily found out, he tries to backtrack. Let me translate: His police agency got sick of the negative attention, he was spoken to by a superior officer no doubt, consulted a lawyer and the lawyer advised him that he was not as bright as he thought he was and needed to refund the money he collected for expeditions, in order to mitigate damages against him in forthcoming lawsuits. And, we are the wackos! LOL What a lying uneducated hillbilly you really are! Although, we are having fun at your expense and stupidity, it is getting old. Let me give you some advice. No, not spelling advice, just a simple education. Quit while you are behind. You are outwitted and outmatched here, regardless of how hard you try to match our intellect. The sad thing is, we are not even trying.

I do not know if it is just a cop’s arrogance or that you are truly that uneducated, but there is an old saying–Quit while you are ahead. For it to apply to you, Quit while you are behind!

Forgive them Lord, they know not what they do!

Still laughing at you and your buddies. Too bad you got your brother involved in this too. It looked like he was building his photography business. This is certainly going to hurt his reputation and income. Brides and grooms don’t like deceit, lies, or anything else related to that activity when booking their weddings. I believe the 20 or so weddings he photographed last year, will not be referring him to anyone. That is a shame. It looked as if he might have had some potential. Instead of being known as a photographer, he will be known as a hoaxer. That is a red flag for him in the photography business. Brides might think they will hoax them and not book with him.

Trust me officer, you did more harm to yourself, your family and your friends than you will ever know. Enjoy your 10 seconds of fame. The rest of your lives might not be that enjoyable because of the hoax you perpetrated and could not walk away from. You got in over your heads and your bravado and arrogance, won’t allow you to walk away.

Good luck! The only point I do agree with them on is that no matter what ludicrous act they tried to perpetrate on the public, their poor mother should not be bothered with harassment in any form. And if you think about it, hasn’t she been harassed and hampered enough with this cop as her child? I think so!

  8. steelcut responds:

    Illiterates as well?

  9. Medieval1028 responds:

I honestly believe Barney and Gomer had no idea what they were getting themselves into. This stunt will probably become a legal benchmark of how NOT to perpetuate a fraud.

  10. hudgeliberal responds:

Spellchecker indeed Loren!!! I tell ya, it really disgusts me to see the hard work that has been done to give a smidgen of credibility to the Sasquatch/crypto world be totally thrown away by all of the hoaxers and scam artists. Men like Krantz, Green, Byrne, Coleman, Dahinden, Patterson, Morgan and many others worked hard to find the truth. They did it with class, intelligence and tact that seems to be missing from 99 percent of the people out there in this “field” today. Is there anyone out there that just wants to do it the old fashioned way, the right way? Please fire up the time machine and take me back to the 70’s. As for them ripping the book, just free advertising and maybe some of their so called “fans” can actually see what bigfoot is really all about. A word of advice to all of those people interested in Sasquatch, if someone wants to CHARGE you to go on an expedition, run the other way as fast as you can!!

  11. Lyndon responds:

Got bored with this after 10 seconds so I turned it off.

  12. jkeiche responds:

    1) Why would you want to be associated with this level of stupidity?
    2) Why continue to pay attention to them?
    3) Who cares anymore?

  13. Sharmz responds:

LOL Dominic Perez writes better than these guys and he has a breathing baby Bigfoot, not a dead one..

  14. Demian66 responds:

Dear Crypto folks, you can discuss the way how the guys from Atlanta “communicate” their discovery for hours. More interesting in my opinion are the results on the 1st of September. And even if they “fail to deliver”, we should look at it with a sense of realism and self-criticism:

    1) when the boys from Georgia fail to deliver on 1st of September, they have achieved more or less the same as 30 years of more or less “serious” research from Krantz to Meldrum (nothing against those men, especially Meldrum’s research is admirable). Has the “serious” research brought us one step further in the identification and discovery of almost all big mysteries in cryptozoology? NO – Why blame those poor boys?

    2) if they fail to deliver on 1st of September, what difference would this make to the way the general public views the crypto scene and its subjects of research? 98% of all people would STILL think the whole affair is just a joke. The crypto scene will NOT suffer a backlash in reputation ā€“ because it simply has no serious reputation! The guys from Georgia will therefore have no negative impact at all!

    3) And a warning now to all intellectuals and brilliant minds who laugh about people who are not able to spell the word “coming” correctly. Here in Germany we have a saying. Roughly translated it means: “The most stupid farmers harvest the biggest potatoes.” Remember this on September 1st!

And to be honest: if Matt and Ric (if I may call them this way šŸ˜‰ do not withdraw from their claims until mid-August, you can be sure they have something in the freezer!!! I do not know if this is really a 8 foot tall ape-man, perhaps just an alien looking like Elvis. But l have the feeling that most of you underestimate those guys. Be warned…

    Joerg

  15. Lightning Orb responds:

    No commment

  16. Indian Tracker responds:

A friend of mine wrote this to them….I laughed my butt off when I read it. I thought that I’d share this one….hahahaha

“What happened to ALL the pictures that you STOLE from the other researchers sites? This was a pretty elaborate stunt……First you say that you have a body, then you “someone ” cut your electric, then your refunding everyones money….where will this end? Give up the tricks…..remember tricks are for kids…NOT grown men !! If this was a ploy to get attention, well it worked…but it is not the attention that one wants. Now you are known throughout the Bigfoot Community as Hoaxer, Bullshit artists, and NO-One will ever believe you now !! As for the body in the freezer….completely laughable…how the hell did you get a 300-600 lb, 7-9 ft tall body in a freezer anyway? And how did you lift it in there? And if anyone knows about refrigeration…they know it takes days for anything to defrost if indeed it was fully frozen, and if it was not opened….DUH ! So far everything you have spouted has been crap, keep going…BTW do you need the shovel to bury yourselves…I will let you borrow mine, but only if I could help.”

I guess he said it all……..

  17. graybear responds:

I would like to put in my two cents worth over a grossly misapplied and misunderstood name which has been used repeatedly in posts relating to this mess. Forest Park, Georgia, is not a rural or even much of a suburban area. It is a close in suburb of Atlanta, is in the middle of literally millions of people, near to the Atlanta airport (which is arguably the busiest in the world). Forest Park is near to Georgia State University, has its own community colleges and a four year college, and is easily accessible to the Atlanta Zoo, which is a world class facility.

In no way are the individuals with the malfunctioning freezer “hillbillies”. Rednecks, maybe. Not too bright, apparently. But they are not “Hillbillies”. And I should know.

I was born and raised in Atlanta, moved out as soon as I could and never went back, unless I couldn’t avoid it. I have lived in small towns in Georgia and Tennessee since my early twenties (quite some time ago). I can make a reasonable claim to being one of the near-legendary Mountain Williams.

These guys ain’t. Please stop calling them “hillbillies.”

  18. hudgeliberal responds:

Good point about hillbillies graybear. I grew up in the Appalachian mountains and real hillbillies are good people who are “real” woodsmen and trackers and can live off the land, guarantee ya these guys could not. As for the person who says don’t underestimate these guys, well we would give them credit if they had shown us just a sliver of decent evidence. They have done nothing but boast and then act like schoolchildren when caught up in their lies. I think it is painfully obvious that this guy was on post-operative painkillers and during a severely opiated conversation the scheme was hatched to make a few bucks off of the latest rage. Bigfoot hoaxers and scammers. While these guys may not be bad people or evil, they seem to have just underestimated how serious some people take this subject. We are not all “moneymakers and scam artists” and some of us are damn serious about finding or proving the existence of this creature. I think the joke and scheme just spiraled out of control on these guys. As for comparing these guys to Krantz and Meldrum, no comment on that because there is NO comparison at all. Just because those two respectable men have not proven, without doubt, the existence of bigfoot does not mean that they have not contributed many important ideas, theories and evidence to the field. I think that with all the people now taking interest in our lifetime obsession, we may be very close to finding the evidence that will once and for all put an end to speculation. I question now whether I want the public to find this out. I think, like many species, humans would hunt or harass these wonderful creatures to death. As The Crypto World turns would beat any soap opera out there these days. I am ready for the attention to wane and only the real “enthusiasts” will remain. As for our friends from Georgia, just come clean, apologize and ask for forgiveness. We are a forgiving bunch and would probably welcome you into the fold if you were genuinely serious about the topic, however, just an apology would suffice. Peace all.

  19. timi_hendrix responds:

Again, unfortunately it probably will be people like this who discover bigfoot

  20. Greg102 responds:

These guys can’t get anything right. On their site they claim Ric Dyer the “army ranger” is 33 years old. On Ric’s youtube page it says he’s 31. Take into account all of their grammatical errors and “facts” no one can take these guys seriously. If I had a true body of bigfoot I wouldn’t be wasting time instigating people or even care what others think. They are obsessed with criticizing BRFO and cryptomundo. Why bother if you possess the biggest find of mankind?? Now they are offering $5000 expeditions to take you to the site where the body was found. I hope they get some takers, so that when this story comes to a conclusion, these guys can be found guilty of fraud.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
