Cryptotat

Is this the ultimate “Cryptozoology” fan and the world’s only known sighting of a cryptotat!? Who is this dude?

Cryptotat

Unlike the elusive cryptids around us, this phantom with the Cryptozoology love tattoo was photographed by the quick-eyed R. Stevens at a comic show in Toronto this past weekend.

Xeni Jardin at Boing Boing showed it to me first late last night, and I contacted R. Stevens for permission to post it here. Xeni’s going to do her own blog on this today at Boing Boing, but I have to honor this here too. Is it perhaps the only cryptotat known?

Visit R. Stevens’ original post on this here.

R. Stevens wrote: “I did not get this guy’s name, but really hope that someone on the internet can enlighten me! Coast to Coast AM listeners and Loren Coleman fans unite!”

Cool.

Are there other sightings of cryptozoology tattoos out there?

Update: Here is Xeni’s just posted blog on the tattoo.

Second update:

John Maynard writes, “I happen to know the identity of the fella with the cryptozoology tattoo. His name is Spencer Butts. He used to front a band here in Toronto called The Secret Handsnake. He’s also been an MC for the Wavelength Music Series. Here is his myspace.”

Thank you John.

For another cryptotat, look to the next blog.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
