Lincolnshire: Mystery Monkey Sightings

Posted by: Loren Coleman on August 20th, 2010

BBC News is just now reporting (overnight on August 19, 2010) that there has been a second sighting of a “mystery monkey” by a second police officer in a Lincolnshire village. First news involved police officer Paul French who saw the animal on Mill Hill Way in South Cockerington, near Louth, on last Friday morning, August 13, 2010.

“Now Pc Ian Garrick has come forward to say he also spotted the animal in the same location on Sunday [August 15, 2010]. A police spokeswoman said no-one had come forward to report a missing monkey,” reported the BBC.

French said the unidentified monkey ran in front of his patrol car and then scampered over a hedge.

The officers report the monkey as being a similar size to a squirrel, dark brown in color with a long, straight, upright tail.

French told the BBC: “I thought it was a squirrel at first. It paused for a moment standing on its hind legs, looked at me, then scampered off over the hedge.”
