Mokele Kidnapping?

Posted by: Loren Coleman on November 29th, 2007

What happened on the shores of Lisbon Falls that shook me to my core?

I was shocked by the point of reference shown in the midst of this melodrama.

I certainly can die now. My legacy has been set in video at YouTube.

Performance art, cryptofiction cinema, or just incredibly funny? What have I inspired?

An additional comment, perhaps even a clarification:

All joking aside, I feel humbled that these creative young people would construct a passion play, complete with imagined scenarios and out-of-place accents, using my book as a prop. It is wonderful to see this unfold in video form.

Others have measured an existence by its kings and queens, its wars and earthquakes. I find it encouraging to watch the world with cryptozoology as a focus for life experienced.

The post-modern sense of drama, humor and yet appreciation of cryptozoology by these actors, filmmakers, and writers is apparent. I am honored they have placed my work in a camero role in their production.

Since we appear to live in the same region of the country, I look forward to some day congratulating them on their production.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

That was pretty funny, especially considering it appears to be teens.

  2. noobfun responds:

spare a thought to those poor researchers who had set off to the harsh jungles and swamps of the congo

if only they had known moleke-memebe had gone to live the american dream

  3. red_pill_junkie responds:

Gee, those congolese pygmies are getting taller and taller! 😉

  4. PhotoExpert responds:

    LOL Pretty funny stuff!

But you know what? This performance art, sketch is a bit different from most of the ones we come across. I really do not think these kids were making a mockery of Cryptozoology like most of the teen videos we find on the net. I actually think they were very interested in Cryptozoology, a bit bored, maybe actually looking to tape a BF and decided to have some fun.

How many times do we actually see teens with any kind of book? The fact that they had a great book like that with them means that they were interested in Cryptozoology and probably had read it. Awesome! This one was actually encouraging.

And I think the final irony will be that it will not be a group of biologists, scientists, professional BF hunters, or scientist that give us the next PG type footage. It will be from someone making a mock film or fake film and they will actually come across a BF or the BF will come across them. By sheer shock, they will turn and get it on camera. That’s going to be the final irony–skeptics poking fun at cryptids and actually being the ones proving they exist!!!

    Let’s pray for Brandene.

  6. Ouroborus Jay responds:

Embrace it, Loren. It is a thing filled with beauty, awesome, and love.

Plus. It took Brandene. I hope she will be found.

  8. Artist responds:

“We shall pick up an existence by its frogs. Wise men have tried other ways. They have tried to understand our state of being, by grasping at its stars, or its arts, or its economics. But, if there is an underlying oneness of all things, it does not matter where we begin, whether with stars, or laws of supply and demand, or frogs, or Napoleon Bonaparte. One measures a circle, beginning anywhere.” ~ Charles Fort, Lo!

  9. Loren Coleman responds:

Yes, I’m a Fortean, and my comment was a tip of my hat to the master. I do such things often in my writings.

    🙂

  10. Mnynames responds:

“Most of the good bits were about frogs, I remember that.”

~Prak (a man given way too much truth serum, and forced to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth), Douglas Adams’ “Life, The Universe, And Everything”

I always thought ol’ Douglas Adams had to have been a closet Fortean…

  11. mystery_man responds:

PhotoExpert- LOL. I completely agree that the next great possibly genuine footage will probably be produced by amatuers or even hoaxers out making a fake movie. I’ve often thought about how funny it would be to see a real Bigfoot creep up on the guy in a costume of a hoaxed video. That person better hope the sasquatch isn’t out looking for love. 🙂

  12. Scrabbydoo responds:

LOL I laughed so hard my prosthetic leg fell off!

I think this was done in fun and that they actually have an interest in Cryptozoology. Them having a copy of Cryptozoology A to Z was a nice touch. Loren I think you should send them a signed copy of Cryptozoology A To Z for originality! Maybe someone should email them a link to Cryptomundo!

  13. Mothmanfan responds:

lol, this is hilarious. I kept on asking myself “how could that dude keep a straight face?!”

  14. cryptidsrus responds:

    Uproarious!!!

PHOTOEXPERT is right. I think this was done out of a genuine interest in cryptozoology. Basically, imaginative bored kids.

  15. AlbertaSasquatch responds:

Pretty Funny! They obviously are young cryptozoologists in the making. I love the name Brandine. Cletus is pretty good too.
