San Antonio Bigfoot Report: Updated

Posted by: Loren Coleman on December 2nd, 2009

Last night ~ November 30th, police on the west side of San Antonio received a 911 call from multiple eyewitnesses who claimed that they saw a hairy, hominid standing over six feet tall, run out of the woods and kill a deer. The incident was reported to the local media and broadcast earlier today. The witnesses were apparently homeless and responding officers who interviewed them found them to be completely sober and rational, though understandably scared. The police chose not to search for the creature.

I have just returned from a stake out of the area, which is located at the intersection of Loop 1604 and highway 151, about ten miles from where I live. The area is somewhat developed, although fairly wooded and located near several creeks. Most of the area is private property and is fenced with barbed wire.

Obviously I was not about to trespass and I’m still not 100% sure of the exact location of the incident. Reporter Joe Conger from Eyewitness News did visit the exact spot earlier today and told me there were some animal bones present.

I plan on returning there with him tomorrow to look for tracks and other evidence.
Best Wishes All! ~

San Antonio News Radio 1200 WOAI

Is BIGFOOT on the Loose in SA????

several callers contacted police last ngiht about a ‘large hairy creature’
By Jim Forsyth

Is Bigfoot on the loose on San Antonio’s west side?

Police dispatchers told 1200 WOAI news they received several calls Monday night about a ‘Sasquatch’ being spotted near Highway 151 and Loop 1604. Several homeless people contacted police swearing they saw a ‘big hairy creature’ which was ‘taller than six foot three’ kill a deer and drag it back into the woods.

Police say the folks reporting the Sasquatch sighting ‘sounded scared, and surprisingly sober.’

Police opted not to launch a ‘Bigfoot Manhunt.’

Even more up-to-date, on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.

Police and News 4 WOAI have been getting calls about bizarre sightings.

The callers told News 4 WOAI they saw a large, hairy, Bigfoot-type creature at Highway 151 and Loop 1604 on the West Side Monday. Police got a similar call Monday night at the same location.

Two weeks ago, News 4 WOAI reported that a monkey or ape of some sort was spotted on Southwest Loop 410.

The technicians at J.D.’s Paint and Body Shop showed News 4 WOAI crews footprints on their dumpster, proof of what one described as a “baboon.”

  1. Spinach Village responds:

Wow! That’s intense and falls in line with reported Bigfoot behavior. Very interesting. Nice piece of news, Loren.

  2. MichaelCraig responds:

I am wondering about the approximate size of the deer. A young fawn or full grown adult. That would be a big help into determining the sheer power of the hominids strength and agility. Perhaps an attempt to track down the Witnesses and re-interview should be in place. Unfortunately I bet this would be extremely hard to do in a situation where the only witnesses are homeless.

  3. krs9864 responds:

Of course officials couldn’t possibly do a search!! If you don’t look for it, you never have to say you found it……..

  4. Monstro responds:

    Very interesting!

  5. sasquatch responds:

I remember driving through San Antonio and being struck by the surprisingly beautiful wooded hill country to the west of town. So, once again I’m not shocked to hear this.

  6. Jeff Adkins responds:

I wonder what the police’ reasoning was in opting not to conduct a search? Sounds like maybe they’re not putting much stock in the story.

  7. korollocke responds:

    The Wild man of Navidad?

  8. rwillmore responds:

Uh…uh…that’s like *right* where I live, like walking distance…

For the record, there *are* large areas of undeveloped land out here and it gets pretty dark at night. It’s the point and where San Antonio ends and the rest of West Texas pretty much begins.

    Wow.

  9. rwillmore responds:

Also, it deserves to be noted that the Tom Slick primate testing facility isn’t too terribly far from here and some of the test subjects have escaped before (but been quickly captured). Some of the early reports describe an ape. I find it unlikely something could have gotten out and not been reported, but there you go.

  10. cryptidsrus responds:

Great story. Like Rwillmore said: WOW.

  11. springheeledjack responds:

rwillmore–if it’s that close, what can it hurt to spend a couple of hours driving around to see if you can see anything? From what little I know of BF, it seems the critter tends to kind of hang out in an area from time to time…unless it’s just passing through…either way, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon!

  12. shadow@stalkingbigfoot.com responds:

It would be interesting to find an obvious hominid dead deer carcass in the area,
I wonder if the liver is the only thing removed like in Ohio? similarities to Ohio are
    1 Broken front leg/ legs,
    2 ripped open digestive cavity
3 liver forcefully removed without sharp edged tools
4 carcasses stacked or piled together, or many carcasses in a small area
5 no other visible cause of death……..

Being an avid west Texas deer hunter (Kickapoo Caverns, Brackettville, Rock Springs, Spofford), a doe deer can go anywhere from 75 lb to 130 at the most, depending on habitat. That weight would be like carrying a pillow to a 6’3″+ bipedal hominid, so I also wonder at the witness description of the bipedal hominid “dragging ” the deer carcass across the road.

Has anyone calculated the caloric requirements for sustainability of a 6’3″+ bipedal hominid at app. 600 lb?

  13. jorgeh723 responds:

I work at the Lowe’s on 1604 and Culebra, right in the general area of the sightings, and I leave work at night and take the little road right behind on the access road that runs along the shopping center and connects to the 1604 south where the intersection of the 151 onramp and 1604 S is and this is kinda scary. That area is generally wooded and very dark,It wouldn’t surprise me if there were something back there.
