We Still Have Not Received Bigfoot Body!

Posted by: Loren Coleman on August 21st, 2006

Sometimes communication moves slowly. Although I asked for an official copy of the press release some time ago, just today, August 21, 2006, I received the apparently well-hidden url location of the document from Breanna Bishop, the Public Information Coordinator at The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Here is a copy of the full, unedited text of their document:

School of Mines Bigfoot Rumors False — Released August 9, 2006

Contrary to online reports, the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has not been in receipt of the body of Bigfoot.

According to a report appearing on a number of blogs, Bigfoot was shot and killed Tuesday, August 1, on the Pine Ridge Reservation. After a smudging ceremony, the body was allegedly transported to a School of Mines laboratory for studies.

Despite receiving nearly $14 million in research and development funding in the 2006 fiscal year and having a wide array of cutting-edge research initiatives, the School of Mines has no facilities dedicated to Bigfoot or other cryptozoology research.

The Bigfoot blog report can be found at. The timeline of the alleged sightings and shooting incident can be found at.

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology

Questions I would have asked at the press conference that never happened: Why is this document so well-hidden? Why only seven visitors? What was modified before this was sent to Cryptomundo? If someone can say they are "not in receipt of the body of Bigfoot" does that mean the School of Mines and Technology may be anticipating the body still being delivered some day soon? Is there a coverup? Can you release drawings of the Bigfoot body you have not received yet?

Submissions of anyone’s sketches of the Pine Ridge Bigfoot body that has not been received yet will be appreciated by me, here at Cryptomundo.

Okay, since they wish to have fun with this, I am too, and I’m kidding about any talk of cover-up.

Again, as I wrote on August 7th, before the above press release was released: "From speaking with people in the midst of the Pine Ridge situation, it appears clear that placing a rumor out there that a Bigfoot had been killed may have been someone’s idea of a joke. People there feel it is false."

There is real work to do on the larger investigation of the actual Bigfoot sightings at Pine Ridge. I think something may be out there, and we need eyewitness accounts, actual drawings, captured thermal imaging, plaster casts, and good photographs/videos.

Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

  1. Dark-Obsessor responds:

Something may be out there but tangible proof is needed to make me a believer.

Also, people should have learned by now that sketches are not *always* truthful.

  2. lastensugle responds:

Yeah, I agree …we can’t be sure of anything before we see a drawing of the eyes! (I`m kidding too of course.)

  3. shumway10973 responds:

grant you I am usually suspicious of certain groups, especially the federal government, but this whole thing was/is stupid. I’m sure if, that is if, this event ever did happen, the whole thing would have to be out of self-defense with the ability to prove it, in order for the shooter to remain living in that area. Big Foot is quite important to the people there, and no one could just shoot big foot and get away with it. I also loved the fact that one of the men involved with the smudging doesn’t get around much, if at all, and yet there were still people sure that this all happened. Now, this brings up an important point/question–how does one go about getting a 7 to 10 foot thing such as big foot anywhere that it can be studied? Unfortunately, killing it is one of the few ideas that would work. I like my idea of getting someone who’s an expert at tranquilizing other primates near in size and the new angel star tracking chip. Just insert chip under skin where big guy can’t pull it out and we can track it anywhere it wants to go.

  4. cabochris responds:

Unfortunately as much as I would like for Bigfoot to be stomping around Pine Ridge, I think he/she and family have left.

These PR Bigfoot reports had me so excited that I nearly went there… sort of like in the movie “Close Encounters…”! I wanted to see Bigfoot! I even called the Police Chief there several times, with no response!

I believe that Bigfoot is real. Perhaps not at Pine Ridge though? When the real Bigfoot “comes on down”, it will be too big to keep secret.

There is too much money to be made with such a discovery. Just think what TB or Cliff Crook would do, if they actually had a BF corpse? And if a Bigfoot were ever killed by a bullet or vehicle, statistically the chances are it will not be at the hands of a “Bigfoot Hunter”, but an ordinary person. The news would spread like wildfire!

To the peoples of Pine Ridge and to their police I say this: Here is your chance to actually prove Bigfoot. That would be a good thing because, the world would then have to protect Bigfoot everywhere as an endangered species. That means BF habitat would also become protected. So if you can shed some light on Bigfoot at Pine Ridge, now would be the time. Do not hold anything back. If you do then you know that one day a Bigfoot will be killed in the name of science/profit, somewhere. Here is your chance to stop that from happening. If I personally could avoid the death of such a fellow creature, I would by exposing the truth at Pine Ridge. So how about it? What’s really going on at Pine Ridge? A good start would be to post what you know here!

  5. crypto_randz responds:

There’s no proof that bigfoot exists there. If it does, where’s the body?

  6. madman responds:

If Lance Hendrickson had claimed killing bigfoot, I would believe him. All others must show proof.

  7. Senor Chubba responds:

We may not have seen the release on their site- but the wire picked up this story from the University and it set off several days worth of bigfoot “google news” email alerts from related press.

  8. sasquatch responds:

If you ever shoot, run over, or find a dead cryptid, DO NOT TAKE IT TO A UNIVERSITY, ZOO, FOREST RANGER STATION, OR ANYWHERE- BUT A TELEVISION STATION! Throw the dead critter on the hood of your car or the parking lot pavement and let them interview you LIVE in person with your foot on it. And DON’T SAY; your name is “George Hen..George Hen…George Hen…”

  9. shovethenos responds:

They didn’t get it? I sent it overnight, next day air. I’ll go check the tracking number……

  10. Sky King responds:

    madman Says:

If Lance Hendrickson had claimed killing bigfoot, I would believe him. All others must show proof.

Or if Fox Mulder had caught one of those convenient commercial flights, having gotten a cell phone call in an underground boxcar… I would have believed that!

  11. Sky King responds:

If Lance Hendriksen had killed and EATEN the bigfoot… I would TOTALLY BELIEVE THAT!!!

  12. Sky King responds:

    shovethenos Says:

They didn’t get it? I sent it overnight, next day air. I’ll go check the tracking number……

I hope you bought enough dry ice!! Or else you’re gonna have to deal with one PO’d FedEx driver! 😉

  13. twblack responds:

Well some very good comments here. A little funny also. He is out there somewhere in Pine Ridge, who knows. I do think something strange is going on there, just not sure if it is the Big Guy or not.

  14. Jeremy_Wells responds:

so, as an example of what Cryptomundo (possibly) can do for web traffic, this page had been viewed 7 times when Loren visited it on the 21st (?).

I just clicked over there via the link provided and, all of 9 to 10 days later, the count was 280 hits.

    Interesting.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
