Loren Coleman About Loren Coleman
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, some say “the” leading living cryptozoologist. Certainly, he is acknowledged as the current living American researcher and writer who has most popularized cryptozoology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting his fieldwork and investigations in 1960, after traveling and trekking extensively in pursuit of cryptozoological mysteries, Coleman began writing to share his experiences in 1969. An honorary member of Ivan T. Sanderson’s Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained in the 1970s, Coleman has been bestowed with similar honorary memberships of the North Idaho College Cryptozoology Club in 1983, and in subsequent years, that of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club, CryptoSafari International, and other international organizations. He was also a Life Member and Benefactor of the International Society of Cryptozoology (now-defunct). Loren Coleman’s daily blog, as a member of the Cryptomundo Team, served as an ongoing avenue of communication for the ever-growing body of cryptozoo news from 2005 through 2013. He returned as an infrequent contributor beginning Halloween week of 2015. Coleman is the founder in 2003, and current director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

    Hmmmmmm…?

  2. PhotoExpert responds:

Well, it really should be called, Enhancement of “Unusual Photo”. I don’t want to give people the wrong idea of PhotoExpert doing unusual enhancements on photos. LOL

Thanks for posting this Loren. I believe it should enlighten those that could not see the image before or missed the footprints or the trees that help give scale to the subject.

So for those of you who could not see the image in the original post, those of you who missed details in the photo, and those of you who thought you saw a cone shaped head and Bigfoot tracks–it should be clear now what we have here and it is not Bigfoot!

  3. PoeticsOfBigfoot responds:

Now it looks like something hanging from a tree. Nice job on highlighting the footprints, that takes a lot of the weirdness out of it.

  4. Adam Prawlocki via Facebook responds:

Looks remarkably like a broken irrigation sprinkler starting to spurt.

  5. thatericn responds:

Looks more and more human –

    — Bare left foot and leg seems quite obvious.
    — Head either has long, drooping hair, or possibly, since this is IR, (right?) the “hair” is actually cigarette smoke…
    — Most likely this person is wearing a knee length dress

Has the source shown the supposed reappearance of this whatever-it-is from another day?

  6. CDC responds:

Thank you for the enhancement Loren.

In 2007 a video was taken in Fresno Californa by a homeowner named Jose. That video became popular for awhile for the two unknown “creatures” that were captured on tape.

The “Fresno Nightcrawlers” were named in this video.

Jose had problems with his dogs barking late at night, so he set up a surveillance camera to see what it was that was making his dogs bark. He captured two “strange entities” walking across the view of his camera.

This video was investigated and analized for years and so far has not been determined to be a hoax or the “entities” identified.

An episode of “Fact or Faked” was done on this video and the video could not be replicated or proven to be faked.

The picture on this trailcam reminds me of the “entities” on the “Nightcrawler” video. Although the image on the trailcam picture appears to be larger than the creatures on the Nightcrawler video, they bear similar attributes in both color and shape.

Again, no one can make any determination from surveillence camera videos or trailcam pictures, but the reason each were set up was to record images on film…which in both cases happened.

In my opinion each should not be brushed off, but instead held as “potential” evidence if further similar images or sightings are captured.

Looks like a Creepypasta waiting to happen to me.

  8. Johnzo responds:

Once again, here is the bigger & cropped version of the original.

It’s obviously not a person or an animal. If you look at the area that at first look like legs, you can see that bipedal legs don’t quite bend that way. Plus, the “feet” are all wrong. I’d bet a few bucks its a leaf caught falling from a tree…

  9. Ragnar responds:

Johnzo, it’s IR imagery. It doesn’t look the same as a normal light photo. A leaf on IR wouldn’t show up that well on IR imagery. In fact, look at the far left of the photo at the leaves on the tree. They look nothing like figure in the image. Thats a person.

  10. Johnzo responds:

Ragnar, IR trail cameras have a IR flash, which illuminates the foreground. The leaves in the background would be darker because they’re at the far reach of the flash.

I’m just taking a stab with the “leaf” idea, but it seems more plausible than a person. I have a working knowledge of human anatomy (as an artist) and, although its suggestive of a human figure, the proportions are all wrong. Do you know any people with feet and legs like that?

  11. Goodfoot responds:

Johnzo: “a leaf falling from a tree”? Wow… what can *I* drink to see that?

  12. PhotoExpert responds:

PoeticsOfBigFoot–Thanks! Yes, the footprints give it away if the trousers, boots, and hoodie did not.

thatericn–Yes, it appears to be an IR image. Cigarette smoke or maybe breath of a human on a cold evening?

CDC–Yep, those videos gave me the creeps. The subject had a duncelike hat on, did it not? And the way it moved was creepy too. I saw the TV shows trying to duplicate it and they could not. Which only leaves CGI or reality. I am hoping CGI because that was creepy!

Johnzo–Really? Does not appear human? What photo are you viewing? The legs don’t bend? They are bent but not at the angle we typically see on BF video or in BF photos. The trousers the person is wearing might explain the weird bend of the legs. You do see the trousers, do you not? And the hoodie, you see that right? And the feet are not all wrong, they are perfectly correct which is evidenced by the telltale boot footprints left behind. But OK, everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how far away that opinion is from reality and the facts at hand. Your take is it is a leaf falling from a tree that resembles a human in trousers and a hoodie jacket and that the leaf was able to leave boot prints behind, several of them. Yep, that seems highly probable! I’ll have one of whatever you are drinking.

Ragnar–You are absolutely correct in your observation and analysis. Spot on!

Goodfoot–I am with you on that brother! Someone would have to have an unbelievable imagination or poor eyesight to see a leaf falling from a tree from that photo. I am with you! I do not know what Johnzo has imbibed but none of the alcohol I have consumed has ever made me see a falling leaf when looking at photos of humans. Just wow!

  13. Goodfoot responds:

PhotoExpert: Absinthe, maybe? Not the picture – the whatever that made that into a “falling leaf”. A guy who drank my homemade Absinthe one time watched tiny humans running through my lawn. Who’s to say?

I think I’ll get me a bottle of A tomorrow, for the season. Ah yes, the season. Bottle of Bushmill’s too….

  14. Pam responds:

I’m sorry, it’s so gross to say, but….falling bird poop. That’s what I think it is.

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
