White Mystery African Cat

Posted by: Loren Coleman on July 2nd, 2012

It probably was not a white lion, which would have been easily identified by the Africans.

All Africa posted this on June 22, 2012.

A strange animal has invaded Bulapesa estate in Isiolo town and killed several dogs and sheeps in the last one week. Residents say the white animal belongs to a group of cats that has caused havoc in the last few days by killing their dogs and sheep while several animals were also mauled during night attacks.

Mr Gufu Gollo of Bulapesa estate said the communities were living in fear adding that parents are afraid of taking their children to school in the early morning hours for fear of attack. Gufu said the animals come out at night to raid the villages.

“We are appealing to Kenya Wild life Services to help us trap these animals because they had caused havoc, sleepless night and fear,” said the old man. He said the KWS officers were yet to intervene a week after they reported the incident to them adding that they might be forced to take law into their hands if they fail to respond in the next few days.

The residents are also demanding compensation for the animals killed. Isiolo Central DO Rebecca Wakabe confirmed the attacks and said the Kenya Wildlife Services was in process of identifying the animal. She said the officers had laid a trap for the animal.

However they were unable to capture it because as it had used a different route.
