A Blast From The Past: 2005 ABC Champ Video

On my analysis of the video, you can see the motion of what appears to be a flipper come into view then a long appendage come up in the same motion just below the surface of the water. Could it be a neck or is it another flipper? The interesting thing is the coloring of the Animal. Dark in color with an extremely light colored underside. This dichotomy of color is a characteristic seen in a number of sea-going creatures, and is termed countershading. The lighter ventral color helps to camouflage the animal from predators below, as they look up at the pale sky, while the darker dorsal color helps them to blend into habitat in the dark depths of the Ocean. This video is the most convincing piece of evidence to date that these creatures are in fact a reality and that they are alive and well in Lake Champlain.

ABC News obtained exclusive video of something just under the surface of the lake that some say may be Champ. The video was taken by two fishermen Pete Bodette and Dick Affolter  with their digital camera during the summer of 2005 at the mouth of the Ausable River in Willsboro Bay. Before their sighting, they were Champ skeptics.

“It was as big around as my thigh,” said fisherman Peter Bodette. “I’m 100 percent sure of what we saw. I’m not 100 percent sure of what it was.”

“It made my hair stand on end at the time,” said fisherman Dick Affolter. “It just didn’t fit anything — any creature I had seen.”

Affolter said they never saw the entire body.

“What we saw always stayed at the surface and parts of it would come above the water, like the back of the nose or the head,”. Two retired FBI analysts reviewed the tape and said that it appeared authentic.

“I can’t find anything in there that would suggest or indicate to me that this has been fabricated or manipulated in any way,” said Gerald Richards, a forensic image analyst. “However, there’s no place in there that I can see actually see, an animal or any other  object on the surface.”  The fact that this video was taken at the mouth of Ausable River which flows into Willsboro Bay makes alot of sense as this is a good area to fish for salmon and big perch (a source of food for the creature).

Katy Elizabeth About Katy Elizabeth
Katy Elizabeth was born in Warwick, Rhode Island. Katy has been studying the existence of Champ since a child. As one of the youngest and most recent Cryptozoologists, she made her life long dream into reality when she had her own sighting and experiences of this elusive creature on Lake Champlain. It prompted her to start her own non-profit group called “Champ Search”. The group's goal is to study, investigate and prove the existence of unique animals that inhabit New York and Vermont’s beautiful Lake Champlain. She is the author of the books Water Horse Of Lake Champlain and Water Horse Of Lake Champlain II available on amazon.com.
