The Yakima Valley Museum will launch the Sasquatch Revealed exhibit today. The time of the reception will be 4 p.m. Present will be Chris Murphy, Bob Gimlin, Thomas Steenburg and John Kirk.

Sasquatch Revealed

On exhibit at the Yakima Valley Museum from April 5, 2014 through December 27, 2014.

This exhibit was compiled and curated by Christopher Murphy for the Museum of Vancouver (BC, Canada). It has since traveled to the Seattle Museum of the Mysteries (now the Northwest Museum of Legends and Lore), the Pocatello Museum of Natural History (Idaho), the Yale Historic Site Museum (Yale, BC), and the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Wasco County Historical Museum (The Dalles, Oregon) before arriving in Yakima.

The exhibit explores the facets of what Murphy describes as “a cultural phenomenon on the fringes of science.” Some believe Sasquatch to be mythical, while others believe it is an elusive hominid relative of homo sapiens and other higher primates. Whether real or fictional, there is a deep history of Sasquatch lore throughout human culture. The exhibit addresses ancient legends from North America and Asia (where it is known as “Yeti” or “the abominable snowman”) as well as recent evidence and sightings. Anatomical models, skeletal comparisons and dozens of casts of Sasquatch footprints will be displayed, along with stories of well-known Sasquatch proponents and witnesses. It is appropriate that this exhibit is presented in Yakima, the hometown of Bob Gimlin and the late Roger Patterson.

John Kirk About John Kirk
One of the founders of the BCSCC, John Kirk has enjoyed a varied and exciting career path. Both a print and broadcast journalist, John Kirk has in recent years been at the forefront of much of the BCSCC’s expeditions, investigations and publishing. John has been particularly interested in the phenomenon of unknown aquatic cryptids around the world and is the author of In the Domain of the Lake Monsters (Key Porter Books, 1998). In addition to his interest in freshwater cryptids, John has been keenly interested in investigating the possible existence of sasquatch and other bipedal hominids of the world, and in particular, the Yeren of China. John is also chairman of the Crypto Safari organization, which specializes in sending teams of investigators to remote parts of the world to search for animals as yet unidentified by science. John travelled with a Crypto Safari team to Cameroon and northern Republic of Congo to interview witnesses among the Baka pygmies and Bantu bushmen who have sighted a large unknown animal that bears more than a superficial resemblance to a dinosaur. Since 1996, John Kirk has been editor and publisher of the BCSCC Quarterly which is the flagship publication of the BCSCC. In demand at conferences, seminars, lectures and on television and radio programs, John has spoken all over North America and has appeared in programs on NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, TLC, Discovery, CBC, CTV and the BBC. In his personal life John spends much time studying the histories of Scottish Clans and is himself the president of the Clan Kirk Society. John is also an avid soccer enthusiast and player.

  1. Manuel Hipolito via Facebook responds:

If Bob Heironimus admitted and passed a lie detector about being in a suite in the Patterson film, why do people still believe it was real.

  2. Manuel Hipolito via Facebook responds:

Bob has gained nothing with his story, nor does he want anything, so there some credit in that alone.

  3. John Kirk responds:

Ted Bundy passed three lie detector tests. So by your logic he did not kill all those women. Polygraphs are inadmissible as evidence in any court of law because they are fallible. As for the ridiculous assertion that Heironimus didn’t want anything, you are quite wrong he has openly admitted he wanted to make money off his claim.

Since he started making those claims he has changed his story so many times as not to be credible. One researcher in this field produced an analysis indicating there are over 40 contradictions in Heironimus’ story. He didn’t even know where the film site is. Besides, Bob Gimlin’s word is unimpeachable. I know him personally. Gimlin said Heironimus was never at the film site and that’s a fact. There are more holes in Heironimus’ than a sieve.

I don’ t like it when people falsely accuse Gimlin based on the fairy stories told by an envious man who just wanted to cash in on someone else’s endeavours. Go talk to Gimlin, he’ll tell you what really happened. He has nothing to hide.

  4. Lesley Cox responds:

If Heironimus and Morris were responsible for the Patty suit then it should have been no problem for them to recreate it; in fact, the replica they produced was awful. I don’t think Heironimus’ claim is credible. If Patty was a man in suit then that suit was incredible. No professional at that time was producing anything that sophisticated. The person who was making the best suits – John Chambers (Planet of the Apes), flatly denied having anything to do with it.
