The Latest on the Yowie

Posted by: Nick Redfern on June 18th, 2012

Australia’s Northern Star newspaper highlights the Yowie-based research of Rex Gilroy in an article that begins: “SNARLING, 3m ‘hairy men’ could be sneaking around in bushland near you right now. Yowie researchers are on their way to the Northern Rivers, citing new evidence that these mysterious creatures are living around Lismore and Casino. Known as the ‘Bigfoot of the Bush’ or the giant ‘hairy man’, yowie believers say the beings are a primitive, ape-like race dating back at least two million years.”

And, here’s the complete article on the closest thing Australia has to Bigfoot.

Rex Gilroy. The man who actually makes Erich von Daniken seem almost as credible as Carl Sagan. They forgot to mention the “proof” he has that Egyptions originally discovered New Zealand. Or… The list is long, still the laughs are large so he’s worth reading.

  2. David-Australia responds:

Yes, Rex has not got a good reputation over here, more as a “true-believer” who tends to find the evidence he wants and arrives at unequivocal conclusions (like an older, calmer Matt Moneymaker?). What about “plesiosaurs” in the Hawkesbury River near Sydney??? Still, to be fair and neutral, he could be on to something. He certainly gets around though for someone who’s been at it for so long – Lismore (this article) and Bega (LC’s article) are near the opposite ends of the coast of the state (NSW).

  3. davidk responds:

A case of mistaken identity. The snarling noises in the bush is just the Australian Labor Party – formalizing pre-selection. 😉

  4. corrick responds:

Plesiosaurs???? How about stray leopard seals instead?

Sorry. Comments have been closed.
