Now in its final days, the crowdfunding campaign to fund the production of the third Small Town Monsters film, Boggy Creek Monster, has gathered well over 150% of its initial goal. While the outpouring of support is somewhat unprecedented for a documentary revolving around the Bigfoot subject, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Expedition Bigfoot: The Sasquatch Museum opened in early February in Cherry Log — located about halfway between Ellijay and Blue Ridge on Highway 515. The 4,000-square foot museum is filled with what owners David and Malinda Bakara call the largest collection of Bigfoot artifacts in any museum anywhere, much of which were gathered by fellow Bigfoot fans and researchers. Debates about their actual existence or what they might really be have continued for decades, if not centuries. Known also as cryptids, they have spawned a body of research known as cryptozoology. This entertaining book looks at the evidence of these mysterious monsters and others and explores what they might really be (if they exist at all), why they have been represented as they have and the development of cryptozoology and how it has collected data to discover more about these unknown creatures.
