Can a tiny creature that doesn’t even exist inflict agonising pain and even death upon its human victims? Ordinarily, I would say no – but the history (and mystery) of a virtually forgotten yet decidedly bizarre micro-assassin known as Furia infernalis, the hellish fury worm, is anything but ordinary.

Tonight I speak to Daniel S. Green, author of Shadows in the Woods: A Chronicle of Bigfoot in Maine. Maine has a very long history of Sasquatch sightings in the state, from mountain tops to people’s property near towns. Some of the first reports of Bigfoot in Maine was in the 1800’s, near the Mt. “Before I get to the matter of what A Trojan Feast is about, it’s important that I explain what it’s not about. This is not some simplistic study of why Bigfoot likes to eat apples or aliens from Zeta Reticuli have a particular taste for strawberry ice-cream. No, this is a book that delves deep into the long and notable history of food-based interaction between us, the human race, and magical and supernatural entities from…well, somewhere.”

“As history, legend, and folklore note, there are far more than a few cases on record where strange creatures, and mysterious entities, have been seen in the direct vicinity of bridges. A classic example is a case I have extensively investigated, that of the so-called ‘Man-Monkey’ of Bridge 39 on England’s centuries-old Shropshire Union Canal…”
